Ok, I've been searching the forums for a while (12 pages) and I can't seem to find anything on this, and everybody keeps talking about high revs...
When should I shift? I've got a 02 GT and normally shift when I hit 3500-4000 RPMs. Just curious as to what the general public thinks..

When you shift depends on what you want.

For gas savings and daily drive just shift at lower rpms 3k is good, if you want acceleration/power or your racing shift just before redline.

Basically the most economical place to shift is as soon as the NEXT gear can take it without a problem.

I find that shifting at 4k is good. It still shows you have a sports car but its not burning fuel like crazy. Anything lower than 4k makes my drive boring(it just a nuetered car then). I tend to get between 25-27 mpg with this shifting scheme.

yea... same with me its no fun when shiftin under 4k thats why i hardly do it, only when the folks are in the car. Thats why i cant notice a difference in gas mileage because of how i drive

I shift at about 3000-3500. I take it to about 4-5K going out of first tho.

im in 5th gear all the time doing 25mph. any slower in the gear will give out. My 2,3,4, all happen in like 10secs. i get to 5 asap. sometimes when im in the mood i let it rev to 5 or 6.

I've always head shifting at 3rd gear is the most economical place, but I usually shift a little past 4000 rpms... it's mid-way to the red-line and keeps the drive interesting... plus i still get great gas mileage. The way I look at.. you bought this car for a reason, have fun!
