I'm going to get mtech 9005 high beams in the mail soon, is it true they'll melt the connector housing. I never use my high beams, I just want it for the look when on DRL (my dad won't let me disable them). Also, will the new Nokya low beams melt the housing and burn out quick?

Had my Mtecs(hi & low) for bout 5 months and no probs... Never tried the Nokyas though...

i like my MTEC's. They aren't that crazy HID blue but they are a nice hyperwhite color or w/e you wanna call it...and they're much cheaper than you may pay for others like PIAA...

Haven't heard of them melting the housing if properly installed. But, some people have problems with them burning out. Some caused by faulty installs and some by just bad bulbs. I believe isaac has started selling the Nokya's as well in the store.

Stock wattage bulbs won't burn wiring or melt housings. In fact, those tinted bulbs can actually produce a little less heat in the housing because of the blue filter.

You'd have to worry if the bulbs are meant for higher wattage than the standard 65W. This does not apply to bulbs with the idiotic claim such as "55W of power, 90W of light." That's just a reference to color, a 90W bulb producing a bluer light spectrum than a 55W. You'd still be using the stock 55W, but producing a bluer light (albeit with less overall light output because of the blue filter).

Put it another way -- if they're legal for on-road use, they won't melt the housings or overload the wiring.

save up for HIDs...trust me MTECHs and PIAAs are not worth it...

yea i say save for hid. But if you are impaitent liek myslef, get mtechs, you wont be upset. If you have the cash get piaa spark blue,. Closest to hid but wont get great visiblity out of them

will the hids work on the drl's? cause the lower voltage i just ordered a 8000k hid setup for lows and was debating on highs but now thinking aobut it willt hey work ?

when the drls are one any hid's look yellow anyways because of the lack of power

DRL color never changes. I went beyond blue and have PURPLE tint bulbs in for my highs... and they still look yellow as DRLs. Just too low of output.

MTEC's arent bad. One of mine burned out after a year b/c my glass housing is cracked (on 5th gen).

But im saving up for HIDs. Can get pair of bulbs on eBay for $70 shipped - Philips.

The ballasts are the expensive part. Usually around $100 for each side.

well, sucks for me. I guess I'll just have rediculously bright high beams in the off chance I ever actually use them.
