Hi all, I just brought a 2001 celica (in US i believe its called celica GT), its been fine for the last few weeks. Recently I have noticed that there is a slight squeaking noise, I notice it most during a cold start but the noise is always there, even though it dies off when the car has been running for a while. I think the recent rain and cold (what do you expect in London!) has had an effect on the fan belt which I suspect is making the noise. Has anyone else had a similar problem and how did you fix it. I'm not sure exactly how to tighten the fan belt, I think I need to tighten a bolt near the belt, does anyone have a picture of where about the bolt is and how to tighten it?
Any advice would be welcome. Many thanks

This is your belt. I had the same problem with my 2000 GTS. My Belt Tensioner was replaced under the warranty but had to purchase the Serpentine Belt to replace the old belt. Some people say that you can grease it up. But others would tell you to just purchase a replacement belt. You can get a Serpentine Belt from Toyota or a Gatorback from your local store.
Once the noise starts, it will just get louder and louder.

Yep squeeky belt. Mine has done it until it warms up from day one when I got the car new. Inspect it for cracks and glazing don't spray anything on it thats just a temporary fix.

Nah, don't be doing that WD40ish. Just cut the source of the problem and replace the belt. You can use those lubing all you want but make sure that you set time in the near future to just fully replace the belt.
