Im getting the Delphi unit, skyfi2, and also got the car kit.. was wondering if anyone has one, and knows if it fits in our cubby hole above the stereo, if not where have you guys mounted yours? this needs to be able to come in and out, so i can use it at home also.

I have the SKYFI 1. I love it! It's worth the $9.99 to listen to commercial free music. The reception is great. I use the cassette adapter for it because it sounds like CD quality. I tried the FM Modulator, but it lost bass, so I switched back to the cassette. No complaints thumbsup

Im going to wire min up using the aux input on my headunit, so it will be the best method possible... Where did you mount your carkit for your skyfi? do you have any pictures of it? the car kit i ordered is on backorder, so im trying to get everything figured out in the meantime.

To shiftyz1x:
Saying sat. radio is to broad, there are two companies, both very different in the technology they use, also the unit and wiring methods are very diverse. Install plays a large role, as well as which company your using.

The arrow in the picture shows where I stuck the dock to using 3M Extreme Velcro. It took many types of sticky material to find one that would stay up even in extreme heat. This works. The antenna i have mounted mid-roof rear, then I have the cord coming through the crack before the hatch, then tucked underneath the headliner down the passenger side, down the A-pillar, behind the glove box, then out the fuse kick panel in the passenger side foot space. Comes right out in the perfect place. The unit is easily accessible.

I have and Alpine deck that was XM radio and I actually hooked up SIRIUS radio to it beacause i liked their setup a lot better. the sound quality is much better than radio. The only problem is I cant take it out of my car, but i dont listen to that much music outside my car.

Since it requires the mounting base, I highly doubt it.

I have the Sony Unit with the built-in XM Radio Tuner, looks a lot like Barrett's radio unit but it's black. It's more money but definitely looks nice, XM is the way to go

Your XM Roady is about half as big as the SKYFI. I think fitment would be a larger issue.

I liked the channels offerd by sirius better as well, but i spent about 2 hours at both of the two booths at CES, and concluded that the technology XM uses yeilds higher quality, and greater possability to expand...especially if they ever start to do local stations on satallite( which I hope they do at some point). I am also hoping that since sirius will now have more then 120 channels, and XM has 100, that XM will add a few more music stations, we will see...

mxm celica, what did you have to do to the base ? that came out pretty nice, looks great, would be even better(IMO) if you could close the lid and have the whole thing hiddien.

I had to crack open the base and rewire the board. My friend did the rewiring though. Then I relocaded the base/board behind the dash. Not a fun project IMO

If it were me then I wouldn't put the reciever in the cabin door, that doesn't look very good in my opinion, I'm not trashing anyone who does that though. I would consider getting the roadie 2 though, the color almost completly matches the console and its very easy to put it in the ashtray. Here's the close-up you wanted. Good luck!!

Sirius has a bigger bandwidth and can broadcast video; they just don't yet.
XM just launched a second satellite; Sirius already has three up. XM currently charges for listening online; Sirius lets you listen online free. XM might charge you extra to listen to every channel they offer. Sirius is more expensive.

Either way, satellite radio is just awsome, regardless of which one you choose. thumbsup

I went with an integrated built-in kit, so it's car only (but I didn't like the idea of having a huge external unit hanging around somewhere in my car sticking out and getting in the way). I wouldn't listen to it in the house since I have a 125-disc CD changer and internet access at home.

To everyone else: If you don't have satellite radio, go get it!! grin
