If i get an '05 GTS how much would it cost to change the ECU to an '00-'01 ECU so i dont have a rev limiter???

I think you'd be better off spending the money on Apexi's PFC. At least this way you will see some power gains along with setting rev limitier even higher than the 00-01's

The '00-'01 does have a rev limiter, its just at a high point of 8400rpm. You can't buy a new car with no rev limiter, the manufacturer won't allow it. Power FC won't work with the 03+ cars, so your out of luck there. You'll have to do a +04 ECU / knock sensor swap to get the normal rev limiter.

What is the rev limit on the '05's? still 8350 like everything but '02's?

You want a rev limiter.

Be glad you don't have the '02.

PFC does not work with DBW, so if the '05 has DBW as I'm sure it does, the PFC will not work with it.

the 2005 celica's should have the same limiter as the 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 model. as far as I know only the 2002 had the early rev limiter.

'05s are at 7800rpm.
'04s range from 8250 to 8400rpm.

WHAT IS REV LIMIT ON 2003 MODLES? DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENT IF IT'S CANADA OR US?

I have an 05 gts and it revs out at right around 8350 to 8400rpm
I dont know where gts rosh got the idea that it is 7800. I know redline starts at 7800 but it doesnt cut out until around 8400rpm

if you wanna change ur ECU to older one, get a used one. a fair price for a used will be around 100$
u also need to change ur knock sensor in order for it to work, thatll cost you 150$ brand new.
labor will cost you about an hour if they do the shortcut way or else will take a while.
i really recommend you do the easy way, cz the long way to change the knock sensor you have eto mess up some gaskettes, and you dont wanna do that on a brand new car. theres instruction on the other site

Oh bada$$...i didnt know that '05 didnt have a 7,800 limiter. Hopefully once i get mine it will have the good ecu

It started on the other site, someones friend said his '05 celica had a rev limit like the '02's. I thought either a) he reved it in Neutral, or B)The car wasn't warmed up.

The 05's only rev to 7800.

You can't use a PFC due to the DBW.



Also, if you wanted to swap out ECU's, you couldn't use a 2000-2001, you would need to use an 03-04 due to the fact that the 00-01's didn't support the DBW function.

... soooo confusing...im leaning to the 8400 limiter...anybody with an '05 GTS that can prove it????

my friend took one for a test drive. 7800 here. And yes, the car was fully warmed up.

gilmo100, I got from what people said from there test drives of the '05. So I'm not 100% sure.

How can two people have two different rev limits? The guy that owns the '05, shuts off at over 8k, your friends test drive shut off at 7800.

I hope this isn't true, because I just got my 05 last week.
And I'm still breaking it in, so I dont want to try it yet.

with the dbw you have to keep that computer for the car to work

my o2 has a rev limiter at 6800 rpm. I have had it up there lots of times to confirm it for myself.

Yeah, the 2002 has a lower rev limiter than the other years. Still like to know why some people have had theirs over the rpms on their '05s. Could it be a possible measure by toyota, that it wont let you rev as high until the cars broken in (hence a test drive with low miles = low rev, while someone that owns it can rev over?) I'm just throwing around ideas.

most GT i think have a limiter at 7000.. but the people in here are talking about the GTS anyway
