if the price is right, go for the gt. a 5-spd gt is faster than an auto gts anyway. besides..the gts engines are CRAP, to put it mildly. if you plan on driving hard..you'll have nothing but problems. and what good is a gts that you can't push? stick with the gt if you got a good price on it

thats the veilside bodykit..not the trd one (i like the veilside better anyway though).
if it's authentic..the body kit alone was over $1,000, excluding installation & paint (total would be around $1,600-$1,800 just to buy the kit, put it on & paint it).
buying from a dealer..10k is pretty good. private party you could do better though, just my opinion.

i wouldn't be able to go without lift..i think it's gonna be a big difference for you if u've been drivin gts (if it was the manual) to go to a gt. but gt's do have potential especial turboed ones

Hmmm...GTS engine is not that crappy. Sure there are problems with it, but Lift is totally rewarding. 10K from the dealer, you still have to factor in taxes and etc. don't you? So what is the out the door price? Compare that to a private party to see where you at in terms of payments. Go with whichever one your gut instinct is telling you. No matter what you will be going home with a Celica, and that is always a plus

Ad far as throwing a CEL going in and out of lift...well i think you better have your car checked bud...

^^ you drive an auto, prob j/k j/k the auto gts engines are fine..because they don't let you push the car anyway, so it won't break on you. but like i said...an auto gts defeats the purpose of having a gts.

I'd stick with looking for a CLEAN, UNMODIFIED GTS. Why do you like the cars that have tons of ugly kits and stickers already placed on the car???

I'd get that gt and turbo it. You can get a good deal on that so might as well do it. Turbo > LIFT

and the CEL's i talked about were probably due to having bad lift bolts..but that's still a 2zz engine problem, is it not? after i replaced them everything was fine for the most part. just had a lot of bad experiences with my car

They lowered the rev limit on 02 because people were mostly mis-shifting. if the 2zz was that bad of en engine then how come the vibe, the corolla, the matrix, and even a lotus has it? and if lucky blew his engine because of high revs like you claim...then why is his PFC set to limit at 8600rpm?...hmmmm btw-what happened to your avatar?

ok ill break it down for you nice and simple (caleb really doesnt know what he is talking about, hes a n00b ignore him) if you want to turbo your car: GT if you want to be fast with N/A(intake, exhaust, hearder, cam,...): GTS And remember...no matter what people tell you, get a manual...if you get a celica and it is automatic...and if you get a GTS auto, you are a chick

lol speed4theneed you can't generalize your bad experience with all GTS's.. that doesn't make sense and from what im reading ur saying the corolla xrs has a lower redline when if u've actually been in the car the redline starts at 8200rpm when the celica starts at 7800.. so how is that lower

I completly understand how slow an auto is compared to a manual. BUT SOME PLP HAVE A REASON FOR GETTIN AN AUTO! My car was bought for me by my parents as my first car. I do plan to go manual one day but til then I LOVE my auto. I wouldnt have been able to get my car AND insurance under my dad unless I got the auto. I HAD NO CHOICE! So dont dis plp who have autos, cause you dont know the whole story. Now maybe some plp did choose it cause they prefer it over manual, BUT THATS SUM! NOT ALL! All Celicas arent created equal, and all Celica owners didnt have the same start. I cant stand plp who r just about sayin "ur a dumb ass for gettin an auto GTS" when they dont know the REASON behind it. You might as well tease others and say how poor their family is compared to yours. Its ok to say that the manual is fast...casue it is, but dont be an ass about it. In other words, im just sayin respect ur fellow members. Beside, this is the Everything Celica forums, not the Everything Manual Celica forums.

you still have to replace the new ones, they just don't wear as fast. as far as problems (both gt & gts): https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/dosearch.php there's a lot. and look, im not saying the gts is worse off than a tiburon or whatnot..im saying its worse off than a gt (comparing manuals anyway)

^^ and i hope you continue to have 0 problems for as long as you own it i don't want anyone to have problems with it, i wish i didnt. you do have an '03 though...every time a first model year car comes out you should expect problems (mine is an '00) so i should have known better, in all honesty...but i couldn't resist. i wanted the 6 gears & the extra 40 whp

some people just need to learn how to drive.. you cant just go from gear 1 to gear 6.. you need to follow the gear 1>2>3>4>5>6... and most of the people that have problem with their car are the one that dont know how to fix their car, your car can't fix itself you need to check it every other months. i hit lift every other days no problem here..

a gt is more turbo friendly because of it's lower compression. a gts will still make more power though. i agree that both gt's and gts' should be turbo'd

XTC. I'd say go for it. The car has already been modded so you're saving money (unless you want to do your own modding). Also you can build up the GT engine if you're worried about speed. I have a White 2000 GT 5-speed too. I plan on building up the engine. You're getting a better price than mine stock.

i'de say it depends on your financial ability. If your going to buy a GT and want to be faster than a GTS you might as well just spend the money on the GTS and get intake header exhaust. Im not sure on everyone else's future plans. My plan is to finish up school and fix up my celica and show it. Once i graduate and get a job with a masters in International Business then i plan on selling my celica and getting one of the following. Acura NSX, toyota Supra Twin turbo, or buy that infinity coming out in 2007 thats going to be the next nissan skyline. However if your not in school and don't have a financial future that will be lucrative i'de get the GT and build up the motor with a narly turbo and push like 20 pounds of boost. I never bought the GTS for going uber fast. I needed 1# reliability then #2 speed and fun then #3 styling looks. so what you should do is put a list of what you want in order. If you want speed more than reliability you should think about wrx's and evo's.
