well i just found out that you cant have a bypass valve on your AEM intake if you want to install a FI system so i might get Injen instead. One problem i will still face is the possibility of hydro lock (doesnt rain much in my area but i rather be safe). ppl on this forum was talking about some splash guard for the injen intake before, so where can you get it? Ive been searching around but cant find it. Up to what severity of water exposure does it protect the intake from and well...does it even exist?

Id also like to know where i can find a splash guard for my intake? Anyone??

In my opinion, just get a Short Ram Air Intake, the performance is almost identical, you don't have to worry about it getting wet, and it looks cooler b/c you can see the whole thing when you open the hood, unlike the cold air intake which goes under everything and is almost hidden

yeah i was considering a short ram but then you wouldnt have as much fun putting on the SR as you would with a CAI...hehe

your a sucker if you buy a splash guard, our celicas come with a with a plastic shield underneath the car to prevent water and shit from getting up into the engine, the only thing you might need to patch is your wheel well like i had to do i went to the hobby shop picked up a set of plastic card, contact cement and black spray paint and fixed that up reaL quick. also stick with the cai dont go short ram, i had one and never thought twice about going back.

hey, how do you remove and clean the filter on a CAI? to me it looks like you have to take off the whole front bumper to get to it. seems like a lot of trouble just to clean a filter.

oh and Vtec_killa, would you happen to have pictures or instructions as to how to patch up the wheel well? thanks

first off how many times you clean your filter??? if you do what i say its in a pretty enclosed area but anywaytaking the front bumper off is mad easy if youre not lazy, takes no longer then 10 min. as for materials i dont have pics but any moron could do it. just go to a hobby shop that sell model cars and stuff by a package of plastic card sheets that are fairly big <you could always cut down> spray paint them with black spray paint <i used testors flat black enamel> and buy contact cement or any type of glue that is WATER PROOF!!! emphasis on water proof, i also drilled holes and bolted mine once they were glued to make sure that bitch isn't moving anywhere.

You don't have to do all of these instrustions to patch up your wheel well. What a waste of time and money. Get some tape! and voila. Put the tape on the inside of the wheel well and no one will see it. As for the splash guard, I wouldn't worry about it. I have driven through some really nasty storms with my CAI and everything is fine. Just make sure you always have those underbody plastics. Also, don't drive through big ass puddles.
