K...so what is the most hp and torque that our engines can handle with internals (rods and pistons)...what else would i need done to the engine so i don't blow the engine since i plan on having about approximately 500-600whp...and i plan on getting C2Power Turbo but what turbo should i upgrade to?? I have a GT and they use the Garrett GT28R...I will get the 550 injectors and biggest intercooler and all that tranny stuff but what bigger turbo should i upgrade to? Thanks and of course it only matters with how much our engine can handle for a long period of time without blowing...i won't be running full strength most of the time...only once in a blue moon just so you know. Thanks!

i think ur crazy if you think ur gonna get that much horsepower out of a celica...if you want that much you best rip the whole engine and build it from the bottom up...were talking about replacing everything

yeah I don't think any 1.8 engine would be reliable at 500-600 hp. C2gas I think has a 350hp(crank) car and it might be somewhat reliable, but still the more HP you have the more wear you have on all your parts that's why really reliable cars aren't high horsepower cars. small 4cylander cars that make 500-600 HP which is just about the upper limit of what that kind of displacement can do usually don't last long have like 30lbs of boost and rev really high, and probably blow up after 30hrs of use. That's like race engine performance and they basically rebuild their tiny race motors after every race. It's different on say a Viper that has 6liters and 10 pistons. since you have a GT and already have low compression pistons you can probably boost to 10-15psi safely, think there was a guy on here with a gt that said he was doing 12psi reliably. would probably give you between 200-250 especially with a good tune and all those extra fuel accessorys. But your just not going to get 500 without blowing your engine up. (also most of the small race engines that make 500hp rev to 10000 rpms that would bury your rpm gauge and you'd need to get an ecu to unlimit your revs which I don't know if they make one for the GT)

k thanks...and i believe the power fc lets you take the rev line off...i guess ill have to make up to 300 since that is at least what i want to do (only drive at 16-20 psi once in a great while and not long distance)...thanks everyone!

that 350 though is going to cost ya. about 10-15grand you need new pistons rods clutch tranny gears boost controller stage 2 turbo kit.

yeah i know lol...i figured after installation it can be up to 18k (course i overpriced some stuff to account for problems). Yeah...oh well, no biggie..it will be well worth it How is the Garrett GT28R Turbo? does it spool fast??

maybe even a larger, GT30 turbo.

the gt28 spools very quickly, it starts boosting at around 2000 and makes full boost at abou 300-3500, so about when your torque kicks in.

The GT28 is fast spooling and more then enough for the maximum power, 300-400hp, that our engines can reliable put out with mild reinforment. So you probably won't really need to upgrade from that although the GT30 is bigger and stronger its slower. You won't want to get the biggest intercooler that you lose more pressure from a larger intercooler as the air has to travel farther, so a smaller one is more efficient, so its best to find one somewhere in the middle. And since our cars aren't built for FI, you well probably want to upgrade your radiator due to the increase in heat from the turbo.

Well here is my opinion. I have tested many turbos on my car and many boost ranges. I personally reached my limit when I say that even my car can handle more but the power is enough for me. I am currently running with a gt28rs 0,64 a/r but tried the 0,86 a/r before. It was spooling to 6psi fast as all the ball bearing turbos, but then as it was a big a/r I only had my full boost at 3800rpm. I do have a high reving car, but still found that too late, so I changed to the smaller 0,64 a/r. I am happy with it now. Both the gt28r 28rs can boost enough air till 20+psi. The rs is more efficient on higher boost levels. Now the funny thing is I only runned my setup once at 21 psi and then I just turnwed theboost back to 14psi. I asume i had like 350whp at 21 psi. That is just not a street car anymore, that is a full race car with that or higher power. i am not that good to drive a car with that much power. if my wheels spin in the 1st 2nd and even a bit in 3rd gear with my LSD and long gearing in it, thats far enough for me to controll. If you are planning to build a race car (just for race) then 5-600hp is ok, you dont even have to take car of the turbo lag, as on acceleration you are allways over a certain rpm, lets say you rev up to 8000rpm, so when you change gear it drops back to ~6000-6300 rpm, so it would mean it is far enough for you to get full boost after 5000rpm. on race cars they use nitrous just in the first gear to elliminate the turbo lag if needed, but then they just stay over the full boost rpm. If you are planning a street performance car, then I say the max you would want is 400whp as high boost and 300whp max on the street. As I started thats my personal opinion.

thanks Gas I always can count on you! I have another quick ?...when I get your turbo (Bing said 300-400 is stage 3), do i buy the gt28rs from you since yours comes with the GT28R...or is the gt28rs the same?? and what is 0,64 a/r ?? thanks!
