people are telling me different things. I am getting a buddy club II kit.

it just adds stress on your drivetrain. nothing more, nothing less. as long as the 19s are no more than 8" wide and you use a 35 series tire profile (such as 230/35/19) you'll be fine. just keep EVERYTHING that has to do with you drivetrain maintained more than what you have to. the bigger the diameter tire, the more 'energy' it takes to spin it..not to mention that 19s are usually heavier than 17s & 18s.

i just don't like 19s on the celica..but you can put them on there without a problem.

what kind of things need to be done to maintain?

Driveshaft, all control arms, struts, might wanna check bushings. Don't buy 19's.

with 19's you might scrape your wheel wells on bumps, and your speedo will be off but other than than you'll probably be okay

whats the perfect biggest size to go with without many problems, im guessing 18's

can you put 45 series on 18"s? I currently have 35 on my 18"s and I hate it. I already bent 2 rims.

225/40 is perfect for 18's imo...

True, that's what the TRD 18" mags use.

ditto. of course the 225 depensd on how wide (or narrow) the wheel is to begin with your typical aftermarket rim is 7 inches or 7.5 inches wide..and 225 will work with both of those widths.

Just to clear up some general BS here:

- 19's will 'cause more wear and tear on your car because of the increase in mass that has to rotate. But the ammount of stress 'caused is so small, that most probably, you'll never ever have to do any additional repairs/maintenance work as long as you own the car. So don't worry.

- 19's will slow you down. But, again, we're talking about such a small loss in acceleration, that it's bullshit to even mention it. You wern't going to outrun NSX'es before you got 19's, and you're not going to do it after you've got 19's.

- 8,5x19 with a 30 offset with 235/35 tyres works. I HAVE THAT! So anyone who tells you different doesn't know what they're talking about. And my car is lowered 2.3" up front and 2.7" rear. And there's no scrubbing. You can even go wider with the wheels, as there's lacking about 1cm up front and 1,5-2cm on the rear wheels to make them flush with the fenders. If I remember correctly, 9,5x19 with a 35 offset will fit on your rear without problems.

19's will slow you down a considerable amount. The excess weight, as well as the excess mass of the wheels, will be noticeable. I went from 15" to 17" on my last car and could tell a clear difference.

Also, you're going to have problems keeping the wheels in good shape. Any sort of pothole and you're likely to chip or even bend the wheel.

Largest I'd go on a Celica is 17"... but that's just me. 18 would be okay if you really want the larger look.

i recommend forged wheels if you buy 19s. a forged 19 inch wheel weighs as much as most 17 inch wheels that are not forged.

19s are fucking gay. Save the extra money and buy something useful.

Whatever acceleration you loose by mounting 19's, you'll easily regain by some simple modifications like an exhaust. That's how small the difference is. And I've tried 16's+stock exhaust, then 19's+big/high-flow exhaust, then back again to 16's+stock exhaust. That's with the celica.

Any pothole big enough to bend/chip your 19's will also bend/chip your 18's. And we're talking a BIG pothole + dumb ass driver to manage that. You got to take some care driving around with big wheels, but you don't have to be hysterical about it.

What some people do is they check what tyre pressure the standard 16 inch wheels are supposed to have. Let's say that's 36 (I won't bother to check if that's the correct amount right now - might be 34 or 38...) anyways... Dumb ass'es see that 36 is the correct tyre pressure for rims on the celica. Then they get 18's or 19's and they still have 36. And, ofcourse, their rims won't last a month. What a lot of people miss out on is the fact that 35 profile tyres should have 42 in pressure, and 40 profile tyres 40-42 in pressure.

I had 8,5x18's with 215/40 for 3 years. The car was my daily driver. No problems. I had 16's with 40 profile tyres for a year. Daily driver. No problems. I've had 2 different sets of 8,5x19's with 235/35 tyres for 3 years. Also my daily drives. NO PROBLEMS. And the road standards in norway is *shit*.
You have bumps and cracks in the roads so bad your change jumps out of your ashtray, and your cdplayer skips. Still, all my rims have survived.

Get 19's now. The celica's made for a big phat drop and 19's!

19" fit fine but the correct tire size is 235/35/19 i have had them on my car for over a year and have no problem at all I have 19x8.5 in the front and 19x9.5 in the rear.My boyfriend used to work at axis wheels and he says 19" are perfect for the celica.

facotry 15s are 24.3 inches tall while the 215/35/19 are 24.9 inches tall. youll notice a small difference in the speedo butas for wear and tear, you will never notice. we sell on avg, 25 wheel/tire packages a week and have been for years without any drivetrain problems. Even in all the SEMA custom wheel and tire certification classes, this was never mentioned. I can see how in theory thsi would be possible but in my years of experience and research, ive never seen any evidence to support it.
