What's the best wax that I can get for my buck? My GTS is Carbon Blue. I use Maguires cleaner (I think that's the kind). but is there one that will help me with a few micro-scratches in the clear coat that I have?? I don't care how hard it is to get off if it does the job!

Mothers 3 stage.

1 is claybar that will get any ruff crap out of your paint. Needs to be done liek every 6 months or jsut as needed.

2. Cleaner wax will get anything else off, esp like other waxes so they dont mix. do it after the claybar

3. Seal and glaze gives it the carshow finish. Do that for every wax.

there is one more stage but i never use it and dont know what it is

Just noticed you had scratches...depending on how deep you won't get them out by hand. You will have to get a machine of some kind either a PC (if they aren't real bad) or a rotary.
You also don't use wax to get scratches/swirls out.

I use that platinum turtle wax in paste form. It shines up pretty good on my white celi.

I use Meguire's tech wax. Seems to be good stuff.

Zymol is a good wax, but very hard to apply n buff off. The final stage to the mothers 3 stage, is the Carnauba Finishing Wax.

doing the 3 step process would be good.. but for a fast shine I use the tech wax
also

ok I see the 3 things youre talking about... but on the bottom of the page, they have a 3 phase wax, they dont have the claybar, they have liquid wax, which besides the cleaner wax in the 3 parts you said, is there any actual wax?

I clay bar my car once or twice a year. I'll do the full on wax with the scratch "filler" and the whole process 4 times a year if I can due to temp. changes.

For a full on detail not for show and driving on the streets that's all/more than you need for the whole year.
In the meantime, I use any spray on wax (some are better than others and it's obvious) at the local "do it yourself" pressure washer place or your own house.
Meguiars Tech Wax is the best I have come across. Yet, it acts like a wax (leaving a residue and harder to wipe off). You need to polish it off with a soft towel after applying and wiping.
By far for all spray on waxes this is the best and is the most time consuming.
Any other spray on waxes are basically the same.
I have been hooked on Black Magic for quick cleanups.
It won't shine like Meguiars, but is easier to get to a good shine quicker and wipe off any crap.

I have it down to about 1-2 hours a week to get my car looking better than everyone else's car for the whole week without any rain ,puddles, snow, or salt in the dead of winter for me.

You can't just wax and expect awesome results. I imagine you have swirls you need to get rid of...wax won't do this.

You also might want to re evaluate how you wash/dry your car after you polish/wax to make sure your process is correct.

yeah a wax on any car takes a good 4-6 hours for a really good job.

heres how to do it the right way.

1. clay bar, i use mothers.

2. use a RANDOM orbital polisher to apply a cutting compound .. i use mother's medium cut cleaner

3. use a RANDOM orbital polisher to apply a polishing compound .. i use mother's polishing compound

4. use a RANDOM orbital polisher to apply a wax or sealant ( same thing ) .. i use mother's yellow tech car wax

5 wipe off with a QUALITY microfiber towel

keeps the paint lookin' shiny and new. not to mention it feeds the paint essential oils n what not to keep it really deep and shiny. =) have fun.

and have broken old habits. I've had the car for 1 1/2 months and it has a fresh paint job on it. The bugs are going to be coming out and the will cover the front of my car. I also use filtered compressed air to blow off the water to dry my celi.

I have a random orbital polisher but i haven't used it in a couple of years. are the terry cotton buffing pads good enough?
