if you lower your car more than an inch..you definately want to buy some new shocks. your stock shocks will only last about a year afterwards..give or take a few months (depending on road conditions and your driving style).

personally, i would get them both done at the same time to save a few bucks on the installation end.

With that low of a drop your gonna need new shocks fairly soon. Would def. be more cost efficient to put the shocks on at the same time.

i have an 01 and i bought my tein s-techs (1.4" drop) with about 35000 miles on my car...
i drove with them for about 5000 miles and i needed new shocks fast...

so i got my tokico Hp shocks/struts 2 weeks ago and it is definitely my best mod! i definitely suggest gettin new shocks, they just make driving so much better! thumbsup

If i have only like 20k miles on the car and currently have the stock shocks and springs, and i bought the tein stech which is a 1.4 drop. Do i have to buy new shocks right away or can i wait maybe like 6 months more??
I haven't install yet the tein springs.

Thanks man!

Thanks man!

it would prolly be about $100 cheaper to get the springs and shocks installed at the same time so you dont have to pay two install charges... but yes you can wait to get shocks until you think you need them!

honestly though the shocks are my favorite mod by far! so much more fun to drive the car now thumbsup

no, you should be okay with stock shocks, but if you really want performance, not just the look, then shocks are a good idea

This is from SportCompactCar's site about their 2K Project Celica:

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/projectcars/0106scc_projcelica/

"We accomplished our goal of good looks with a set of Progress springs, but without stiffer shocks, we could do nothing about the lack of damping. Riding lowered on the stock shocks, the car felt slightly disconnected--like it was hovering a few inches above the ground. All too frequently, however, our hovercar would seem to scrape the ground as it crashed into the bumpstops. Despite rear springs that were proportionally stiffer than the fronts, the car seemed to lose its playful handling with the lower springs as well. This is, unfortunately, pretty normal for a car with lowering springs."

and this is from Koni's site:

http://www.koni.com/_cars/frame.html

"The use of lowering springs requires special damping characteristics: the mere application of stiffer springs together with ordinary shock absorbers often has a negative impact on road-holding and comfort, and may even lead to dangerous situations."

When I lowered the Celica with the Eibach Sportline Kit, it took about 3 months for the stock shocks to be totally shot. Sorry if nobody cares about this post anymore grin spineyes
