Hi All. My girlfriend has had this problem for quite a while now. When the car is at idle, you can hear a squeaky, power-steering like sound in the motor. It kinda sounds like there's not enough power steering fluid but there is. It goes away at higher rpm or when she starts driving. I think it's not as noticeable when the engine is warm. Sometimes it sounds like a pulley noise. Any suggestions? Btw the "SEARCH" isn't working right. Thanks

...i could be the belt tensioner and/or drive belt...that tends to happen when the car is cold...let the car warm up (couple ticks up on the meter and you should be good)...if thats not it then ????????

if it's the belt tensioner, the sound doesn't always go away when the car is warmed up. If it still noisy when warmed up it's probably the tensioner. check this by spraying your belt to see if it will shut it up, if it doesn't check the tensioner next.

got my new 04 in june and now its squeeking. I sparayed a small bit of silicon spray on the alternator pully. cleared up allot of it but is slowly ocming back. When i go home for spring break i am bringing it in.Just make sure not to spray the belt, woudlnt be good if it jsut slid off You can try that as a temp cheap fix till you get a new belt or get it checked out.

This happens to almost all celicas, it is the serpentine belt. I know owners who are on there 4th and 5th belt, I've replaced mine 3 times about to put on my 4th. DO NOT USE BELT DRESSING!!!!! This will only make the problem worse, trust me. Get your belt replaced that will fix the problem till that belt goes again.

^^^very true..don't spray it with wd40 either..the tranny shop spray it when i had my flywheel replace and now it spueak all the time..b4 it squeak in the morning when it's cold then goes away like 10-30mins later, depend on how cold it is out..but now it's on everyday..i use Prestone Belt Dressing, it helps..but highly don't recommend it, just go buy a new belt..i need on soon, maybe in the summer..

I've had this problem too pretty much since I've had the car bought it used with 30k on it. it's only when it's cold. the belt should be good for 70k just squeak it's kinda annoying. I'm gonna get an aem alt pully kit and that comes with a belt for 70 bucks and you need a belt anyways why not do something cool.
