Ok, im reading the instructions as to how im going to change out my lift bolts. I have no experience with the engine itself. Is this install fairly easy? I have an instructional that says it takes 50 min.

from what i hear, it's fairly easy
it's mainly unbolting a bunch of shit, then rebolting it back again

i'm kinda hesitant with that since it is the engine u're dealing with. other bolt ons not so much

it is very straightforward. when i changed mine i really had no clue what i was doing beforehand but its very simple. everything went smoothly thumbsup

i need to change mine, but it seems when i do, i will come across problems. every post i see on people asking how to do it, results in another post on how to get a broken one out. This scares me, i do not have several hundred bucks to have this thing hauled in to be torn down. i have an extended warranty on my car and feel like i want to drive them until i have no lift, then pay toyota to change them. I know it looks so simple, but to me, it looks like more of a hassle due to when something goes wrong

Toyota still has not recognized this as a legitimate problem, you will not be able to get them to fix it.

The car still goes down the road, so Toyota assumes it is in perfect working order. Nevermind a bolt in the engine is sheered off. rolleyes thumbsdown

^^ if you are under 60,000k miles and you drive an '00-'02, toyota will fix it for free because there is a TSB out for it.

like i said in my last post...TSB's are only applicable on the first 60,000k miles. i also have the extended warranty and they wouldn't fix it for free because i was over 60,000k miles (i had 65,000 rolleyes )

and the broken bolts aren't because people are trying to remove them...it's because they are already broken just from wear & tear as a flange bolt. the bolts are as simple to remove as any other bolt, and you can't really break them by trying to extract them. if they're not already broken, they'll come right out. if they are broken, then you have a problem and basically have 3 choices:

1. use taps to try to drill the screw out
2. use the TSB version on how to remove liftbolts (more complicated)
3. take it to a mechanic or toyota dealership
