Well let me tell you from experince I have a 1971 240z with a killer engine setup and the lightend flywheel really helped a lot matter of a fact it revs almost to fast. But yesterday i put a fidanza 7.5 pound flywheel on my car which is a 2004 ceilca GTS. I cant even tell a diffence. The guy at fidanza told me that because the celica already has a lightweight flywheel it does not make a noticable diffence. But i would still recomend changing it out because it will probally help with other mods like a TRD header and intake, and Exhaust.
One thing I think is a problem is the Electronic controlled throttle. I think it limits on how fast the engine gains velocity. I think in the future that there will piggy back computer to help override the ECT on our cars.

To make a long recomendation short I would recomend it if you drive your car hard, or if you plan to modify the engine with other mods. But this one mod will not make your car the quick F-1 reving engine you are looking for.

wow, you didn't even feel a difference with the lw flywheel? something must be going on like you said perhaps with the DBW...

I felt a huge difference going to the Clutchmasters 9 lb on my '02 GTS.

well you'll probably need to give it more gas when starting from a stop. you'll get up to speed in no time. haha it's funny I accelerate fast and then I hit 5 mph over the spd limit and just stop accel lol.

on the freeway I felt like the car didn't cruise as well as with the heavier stock fw. it became a sprinter overnight. but now I'm used to it and have since added the PFC so I get more low-end torque to maintain my cruise velocity at low rpms.

and it's definitely easier rev-matching.

well...it's how you look at it, but imo going from a 14 lb fw to a 7.5 lb one is a big improvement. and one that should be felt.

so im reading all the pros and cons of the fidanza flywheel and i want to know what the deal is...your telling me that i wont feel any power gain from the lighten flywheel? all the parts i've been trying to get i've checked on this site..and just about 90% of you guys give em' bad reviews...like the UR pulleys (which im not getting) the DC headers, and the now the flywheel...i have nothing left to upgrade in my car!!!! cry naw, even though the few kept saying that the DC headers and the flywheel dont give you gain, im still going to try it..theres no way that the companies of these parts were lying to us...anyways..yeah..so at what hp should i look into upgrading the clutch??

I got the fidanza and it does help with accelertaion. The only big difference that I noticed with the change is that the power curve seems to have smoothed out, there is a much smoother transition at the initial engagement of lift. The flywheel doesn't help create power it just frees up some power loss due to the heaviness of the stock flywheel. Upgrading the flywheel to an aftermarket flywheel isn't done to gain horespower but to help the lighten the load on the engine, to increase acceleration.

what i'm saying is that with something domestic, 6-8 cyl. car you will really notice a difference because the stock ones are really heavy, like way over 25lbs most of the time. So when you swap to a lightweight on those, you REALLY feel the difference.

actually you can't put a really light weight flywheel in a v8 and some v6's. There are major problems with idle.

HJC - I actually have the Monkeywrench Racing Flywheel on my 04 GT. I can definitely notice faster revs, and the jump on the line is improved. Unfortunately, as of late, it seems like the freed up torque is wrecking havoc on my engine/tranny mount...and loosens up the mount bolts after a few weeks. Of course, this is only according the the shop I took it to. So, just today, I talked to the guys at MWR about this crazy creaking noise I now have, and we're on the same page with regards to it being a steering issue. Long story short, I think their flywheel is made with the highest quality and would suggest it...after all, these guys work on 1ZZ/2ZZ cars for a living.
