Celica Forums General Discussion Interior Made my own floormat covers

I figured that my stock floor mats were going to wear out over time..on the part where you put your heel down(im sure everyone has or had this problem)..i really like the stock ones so i decied to make the covers like some aftermarket ones. I went to Home depot..bought a peice of alumminum roof shingle and some bolts. I measured the circles and started grinding and cutting away using a dremel. I also put some black vinly to cover the holes..and there you go! Only spent $2.

imo, there's nothing rice about it. its practical, unlike what is rice.

i dont think its rice either...if you check out sparco & momo floormats they also do that in some of their versions

This took me about an hour and a half to make..all i had was a dremel tool. If i was going to make this for someone i could only make the cover itself and includ the bolts and hex nuts. The install would have to be done by the buyer. They would have to make small ones in the floormat. The holes to the floormats are not that big and wont be noticeable (just as long as you can squeez the bolt through) in the event that you would want to take off the covering. The blots were then set in place by hex nuts. The blots i bought were a little too long so as soon as i was done i just cut then shorter with the dremel..therefore my mats wouldnt look like i has a large lump in the covering area. If anyone in the bay area needs help on getting it done would i would be happy to help out. You can also change the color of the inside of the hole if you want..there is black vinly backing in the pic..but i can be easily be done with red, blue, yeloow..whatever. Ill try to do an install if i make another on for another celica owner in the bay..and well take pics. BTW thanks for the compliments.

Yeah, good thought to make plate lil larger, have to find a bigger shingle! Maybe home depot has bigger ones. make 8-12 holes for floor. I'm thinkin of tryin it today!

I love the mod dude! VERY SWEET! i was thinking about taking out the floor mat and doing the whole floor like that. whatca guys think? they got bigger sheets at Home depot for something like that?
