I have a 2005 Celica GT and I got a new alarm installed a while ago and now the center console lights do not work (including the lighter light). Needless to say, I was P!SSED when I realized the lights didn't work - its a new car dammit! Everything else in the cosole works. The fan/fan controls work, the lighter works, the clock works at the top, the speedometer etc lights work, the radio works. Before I continue... here's the backround on the install and my current situation. No I did not install the alarm myself, I had it installed by a local audio shop. They are willing to pay for the repairs when it is fixed and the problem has been determined. So I already took it to the dealership and they looked at it for 2 hours and didn't find anything wrong with it. I did some testing myself and it appears that both wires going to the light for the cigarrette lighter have positive feeds. Instead of 1 positive and 1 ground. If anyone has any suggestions or anything please let me know... just let me know if any more info is needed. Thanks in advance! JP

Well the cig lighter bulb is not off the cig lighter fuse, but (may be obvious and i am sure you looked) but did you look for a fuse for the lights. I really dont know which it woudl be. Other then that i am completely usless goodluck though buddy

Thanks for the quick response. I think I've already checked the fuses but I'll check again tomorrow.

Use a tap splice to splice the two white wires coming from the back of the cig lighter. There is a pic floating around, but I can't find it.

Thanks for the response Diablo. Sorry to be a noob about this but is the LED a 12 volt LED. So if I just reroute wires from the cig lighter to the light it should work?

the problem (most likely) is that your dimmer switch is busted to the console.
By tap splicing the two white wires coming from the cig lighter, you will bypass the grounded on it, and it will work again.
I forget who found this out, but it wasn't me. I'm just passing the tip along, because I had this problem with my car forever, and finally, right before I sold it, I got them to come back on.

Diablo, I did what you suggested and it worked perfect. So the cig lighter light worked from your fix and for the console w/ the fan/temp controls I used a 6" neon light as posted in the Install section.
