Ok Id really like to get a tpr intake but they arnt carb and I know if I get one Im gonna get a ticket. What im wondering is that the tpr fixes the cels and bogging with the fins so what if I buy an aem and have my brother weld in some fins. That way i have the carb that cali wants and I get the power that I want. Although theres also that mod with attaching your stock maf with the cai. So anyways whats everyones opinion? Also please dont come at me that im trying to copy tpr cause its only gonna be for me and Im just trying to solve that whole carb situation.

Although the fins might help, there is more to it than that.
the idea behind the Bluebomber mod is to replace an after market intake's MAF housing with that of the stock air box, this was done because:
Celica's MAF and ECU are calibrated to detect and calculate air flow thru a 2.5 inch opening with fins just in front of the MAF to minimize air turbulence (stock air box). Notice the fins are straight and not angled in any way. This is done to ensure that the air passes through the reeds of the actual maf sensor at a straight angle with a minimum of turbulence.
Most aftermarket intakes (AEM, Injen, K&N etc etc.) place the MAF in a 2.75 inch finless tube environment; this can sometimes throw off the readings the MAF sends to the ECU, which can sometimes lead to the ECU miscalculating how much fuel to inject into the cylinder and cause Bogging or a Check Engine Light to come on because the mixture is too lean or too rich.
NOT, repeat, not everyone who uses an AEM or Injen intake will get CELs or bogging.
The TPR CAI and intakes with the BlueBomber MOD dont Bog and throw CELs because they have the correct MAF environment dimensions and fins to minimize turbulence near the MAF, which helps to ensure the ECU always gets the correct air flow reading from the MAF.

well the TPR is supposed to have aem's low end and injen's high end. so even if you weld in fins on the aem to reduce bogging or the possibility of, you still probably won't have the high-end of injen.
I have the injen CAI and plan to transfer my CARB sticker to TPR when it becomes available. sure, expensive but cheaper than a hefty illegal engine mod fine and the headache.

If you decide to weld your own set of fins inside your AEM intake be really sure to do a good job cleaning up the weld of any loose pieces of metal that might come loose and get sucked into your engine.

the TPR intake uses more then simply the fins to make the power. it's the design as a whole that gets the job done.
since the aem doesnt have the bogging problems and stuff, you're wasting your time with the fins.
