today i was installing a ground wire kit...not folowing directions and i unscrewed a bolt that held the ac compressor.or whatever it is called. and all the sudden this nasty smelling stuff blows in my face, my body, every where...even in my mouth,...so.after the effervesant gas/liquid stoped coming out, i rescrewed it together... my question to you is what should i do now...i read up on it before i started the car again and am almost positive its the ac compressor. so i drove it around... it seems like the ac works...but i cant really tell...its cold out side...oh,. and the check engine light does not come on...should i have the ac checked?

your very lucky you can see. R134A can freeze your retnia instantly causing permanent blindness. Say your thanks and stop by your local shop and ask for them to refill your refigerant. Shouldn't cost much 134A is cheap...So lucky dude!

That's why Installation Instructions are given to you for proper install. Glad your ok, because next time you might not be so lucky. Next time get yourself some soda, sandwich and some chips...lol Sit down and go over the instructions before your start to do anything.

heheh, ya dad and i have a business installing A/C in hot rod's and classic cars, 134a wont hurt you long as you dont get it in your eyes, the old R12 was the bad shit, but just go get ur frigerant filled and make sure they leak check around where you disconnected that bolt to make sure the seal is sealed, most of the time those compressor seals are a one time seal,
our cars use less than a pound, if it is even sorta cold you cant be more than a quarter pound down, so if you get charged more than like $10 - $20 they are riping you off.

Look up AC work in the auto section of the phone book. This stuff is pretty much universal for imports and domestics. Don't do it yourself because shops can check for leaks and it will probably be faster than doing it yourself! It only takes me about twenty minutes if there are no leaks.
