1- Due to the fact that my antenna was stolen, I put glue in when I replaced it. I'd now like to get a motarized antenna but wanted to know if there was going to be an issue with getting the old one out (as it is nearly impossible to budge). Do they replace the entire mounting? Anyone know where to purchase a reliable motarized antenna?

2- Is there any noticable difference between 17 & 18 inch rims? I have no drop on my car (and do not intend to purchase one as the streets in NY are terrible, especially in the winter). Should I just spend the extra $$ and get 18's or are there any drawbacks to bigger rims/tires?

3- Anyone have success mounting your cell phone in your car? If so, where? I want any wires showing.

4- Anyone know where to purchase the seat covers shown below? I believe they are OEM (listed for sale in the classifieds forum).

Thanks for any or all help you can provide me with!

1. You have to swich out the entire base i belive. you can buy a generic kit from like pepboys or on ebay. Or go to toyota and ask if they can do it but it will cost a fortune.

2. no idea wink I want 18's and cant get a drop either.

3. Pic of my cellphone mount below but woudl deff see wires though.

4. ebay or toyota smile

How much do you think it'll cost for the kit & installation?

Thanks. smile

^ I got mine off Ebay for $32 shipped & installation was $70. So you're looking at around $100, but if you think about it, it's well worth it because it's almost impossible for some one to steal it.

Thanks for your quick reply. Can you post the brand or link to your auction (if it was recent)?

If I purchase the same thing, will the fact that glue is in the pre-existing mounting matter or will the kit include a whole new mounting?

Thanks again.

2- The difference is that 18's look nicer, but you have to run a smaller tire which will get eaten alive by potholes. Since you live in NY & said that the roads suck donkey balls, I would go with 17's (16's would better) and get a thick sidewall. Probably a 45 series sidewall.

3- Dunno, I just put my cell phone in the cup holder.

4- Ebay. There's a set that has red trim on the outside...I dunno...you might like those instead. If not, email these guys CLICK ME!!! [cgi.ebay.com] They make custom seats.

I think the name of the seller is dickenss (I ordered mine 2 yrs ago and I never had any problems).

It doesnt matter that you have glue on the stock mast. You get a new mast w/the kit.

You were correct about the name though I did not see him selling any (I sent him a message to find out). I did however see this auction.

Thought it might work because he has it listed until 2000. Glad I asked beforehand!

nice interior, my car came stock with Carbon Fiber around the center console, but I dont have the e-brake, around the cup holder and the vents, where ya get those from?

I have 18's, well I just got them, but I live out on long island, I would hate to have to take it to the city I dont think they'd survive it out there. speaking of which, I have to go out to queens this weekend for the NYPD test, time to drive slow...

v3n0m:

Is this what you had to do to install yours?

https://celicahobby.com/ubbthrea...part=1&vc=1

If so, would the antenna in that article be functional?

www.gtcovers.com [gtcovers.com] has seat covers from 130 front or back +20 for twotone +20 if you want leatherette. if you've got potholes the larger the tire sidewall the better the dampening they act like springs and shocks and give with the road if you get a 35 tire it'll hurt you more going over bumps. 17's are ok, but don't look much bigger than stock action pack 16's, I'm gonna get 18's with 40 sidewall and drop it. I have crappy roads around here but if you figure stock = 205/50/16 that's a 16in wheel with a tire height of 102.5 mm each side which =about 4inchs so 16+4+4=24 inch total wheel and tire diameter, if you go with 18's with 225/40/18s on them you'll get 18+ 3.5(90mm)+3.5(90mm)=25inch diameter that's an inch bigger in diameter and since your ride height would be .5 inches heigher because you'd be measuring from the radius where the spindle attaches. so if you where to drop your car 1inch on that setup it'd only be .5 inches closer to hitting the ground. now if you went with 225/45/18's you'd have 18+4(101mm)+4(101mm)= 26inch diameter meaning you'd be 1 inch heigher and a 1inch drop would put you at stock height off the ground and the wheels would deffinately fill up the wells better and look nicer and with the 45 sidewall it'd give you better dampening of the road bumps for your personal comfort. 17's would be cheaper but I think the best setup for you would be 225/45/18's with a 1inch drop on the car. and I wouldn't worry about rubbing if they can fit 225/35/19's with 1.5inch drop and have no rubbing problems you should be fine.

Anyone have the "leatherette"? Anyone have any reviews on the other covers sold at gtcovers.com?

What does "no armrests" mean?

Thanks for the tire/rim info Celicatuner. I think I'm going to go with 225/45/18.

I had checked out the motorized antenna as an option as well. The hardware portion is pretty simplistic...the WIRING from the radio and engine compartment back was going to be a pretty major deal from what I was told.
