OK, I don't want to start a war as the opinions might be very different here, but what is really one of the better oils to use (on my 2005 Celica GT), and why?
Right now I am using Quaker State synthetic.
Thanks!

If it's full synthetic, that should be fine. I just recently switched to Royal Purple full synthetic oil. I doubt brand has really that much difference. Quaker State is very reputable. I just recently saw a commercial they have with the STi for the new "Q".

Well, synthetic is definitely better then non-synthetic. I use Mobil-1; I think most would agree that Redline and Royal Purple are the best synthetics you can get.
I can say this from experience with Mobil-1 though. I've used it in three other cars prior to the Celica, and none developed a tendency to burn oil, or even showed much engine wear. One, my old Saturn SC2, ran for 180,000 miles and still didn't use any oil.

Dont use mobil 1 for awhile. Use reagualr oil for your first 3 oil changes then go to synthetic. I say this because synthetic doesnt break down thus it doesnt allow your engine to break in like it should. You should change the oil for the first time in about 1.5 weeks after you get the car just to get any filings or bad things out of the new engine. Then change the oil again at about 2500 miles and still put regular oil in. Then the last time run it for as long as you usually would then change it and put synthetic in from there on out!

I switched to Mobil-1 after 500 miles on it. I think my car finally broke in around 30k miles because that's when my MPGs went up by about 10%. I am at 60k now. Does that mean my engine will last a very very very very long time?

Mobil 1 is very popular. Quaker State isn't that good, its had one of the lowest marks in a lot of independent oil tests. I'd rather use something like Pennzoil 100% Synthetic with Penzanne or Castrol's syntec over Q.S.
