i was wonderin if anyone knew how easy it was to install a security system DIY. I just bought a Viper791xv and dont really feel like spendin and extra 200-300$ to get it installed. Or if i have to do that can anyone tell me how to bypass the clutch since most shops wont do that?

to by pass the clutch its one of the two plugs above the pedal. the one that plugs in horizontally with 2 wires. make a jumper and connect the two wires after you unplug it. this is how i did mine. the actual install isnt bad, just time consuming

if you buy it from best buy or circuit city you can get it installed for free. that way you won't fvck up the warranty.

circuit city and best buy are the worst place to go! they want like 300$ or more and wont even touch the remote start! i found a place that will do the install for 150$ but wont touch the remote start. so if anyone can tell me how to do just that part it would be great! Otherwise I found a place that would do the remote start but they want 300$.

go to the clifford website and look for a link that says something like "find a retailer near you" and find the places near you that sell it. one of them is sure to install it. i can't gurantee they'll do it for under 250 though.

or just get the instructions and do it yourself. spineyes

I found a car audio place that will do mine for 175 they sell the compustar remote starts (which can be used on manual) but I got a viper but should cost the same Im going tues hopefully it'll all be good I had this thing setting here for a month now and its starting to warm up so I dont need it as much now but still the alarm part and remote entry alone will be worth it thumbsup

Remote start is handy, but make sure it's never used when the gear is not neutral!

I've heard of Celica owner having to "chase after the car" on 2 seperate occasion...to make it nicer, both were different directions!

If you live Las Vegas, 702motoring on decatur will do it for $200, they ask $250 though, had it done to my 00 celi. That includes the remote start installation. Even though I didn't buy the alarm there, they still provide after install service and warranty work on a sensor that went out, all free of charge!!!

The kit i bought for the remote start says to look for a plug called the BCM, which should be just to the right of the radio. Does anyone who has installed this know what it is talking about? The instructions say there should be a brown, blue, blue/white, amd one other wire in there. The wires are meant to control door lock, door unlock, motor lock and motor unlock> if anyone has installed this do you know where these wires are locatied? any help would be greatly appreciated...
