Installed the blitz SRI last night. Removed the old air box. Capped off the vacuum hose. Disconnected the blue whatever sitting underneath the airbox, and got REALLY uncertain of myself if that was the right thing to do. Seemed like a very wrong thing to do, to just disconnect a part, and to not connect it again.
Anyways..With the stock airbox gone, we test fitted the blitz intake loosely. And our first problem was that the hose from the blitz intake, that you're supposed to connect on the throttle body (I donno if "throttle body" is the correct word/part, but I'm using it! If you don't like it, I'll use the norwegian word "spjell huset" and that'll be even worse! :-)) was too big.
So I took a peek at the box the SRI came in, and sure enough, on the side, it says 2ZZ. So that'll be for a GTS then. And I have a GT. Dammit!
So faced with the prospect of either having to ship back the intake to the US to get the correct one, or to try and make the hose fit even tho it's too big - trying to make it fit tempted the most.
So we found a piece of samco hose, cut off a piece the width of the short pipe sticking out from the throttle body. Forced that onto the throttle body, making it bigger in diameter. Then forced on the rubber hose from the blitz intake. Job done, it fits.
And then we spent some time swearing at the metal piece thats supposed to support the intake, 'cause it wouldn't fit anywhere. When swearing failed, we got the tools out. And that actually worked better than swearing (who knew?!).
So what I *think* I learned from this:
- the throttle body (the piece on the engine that you connect the hose from the intake onto) is slightly bigger on the GTS than the GT.
- BLITZ installation instructions sucks ass. 'Cause they were in japaneese.
- The BLITZ SRI makes your car sound cool, and it feels more responsive and willing.
- swearing might make you feel better, but tools does the job.
And I took like 15 pictures, but only 2 came out good (my hands shake all the f'ing time) and those 2 were pretty identical, so I'm only posting one of them:

No CEL yet, and all in all I'd say that getting a short ram intake is money well spent.

I don't have any idea what hose on the throttle body you are talking about. i did the same install and I didn't have an issues. Except that we could't figure out where the mounting bracket goes either. I just left it off.
And don't say "Blitz SRI". It's proper name is "Blitz SUS LM".

And don't say "Blitz SRI". It's proper name is "Blitz SUS LM". I'm talking about the rubber hose/pipe that comes with the kit. One end connects to the filter, and the other to the engine. The end that connects to the engine was too big. And what to call it. It is a Blitz Short Ram Intake (SRI). So that's correct. Go to BLITZ own site, and you find in the menu: - SUS POWER AIR FILTER - LM SERIES AIR FILTER If you select SUS POWER AIR FILTER, you get a page which says "SUS POWER AIR CLEANER CORE TYPE". And in the text they refer to it as the BLITZ SUS POWER AIR CLEANER. If you select LM SERIES AIR FILTER, you get a page which says SUS POWER AIR FILTER LM. And in the text they refer to it as the "BLITZ LM INTAKE SYSTEM". If you go to a website selling them, like where I bought it from for instance, they're refered to as the "BLITZ SUS INTAKE SYSTEM" and "BLITZ LM INTAKE SYSTEM". So the people making it, and the people selling it, call it different things. What they don't call it is "Blitz sus lm". But it is a SRI (short ram intake). So who's right, and who's wrong, is anybody's guess. But having to comment it like it's a fact, when it's not, must make you feel like an idiot. Doesn't it?

could you take a picture of the front of the intake filter? My quesiton is, the part on the front with the fine mesh, does it have filter behind it, or is it strait into the pipe? Essentially letting fine enough dirt right into th eintake?

No oiling required.

I wasn't aware of this intake's existance. Are there dyno charts around for it? DO you loose power down low like the rmm and Injem one?

It would be hard for me to say anything definitive about the performance gains from this intake. The celica has spent the winter locked up in my garage, while I'm driving around in a toyota funcargo. So I've gotten used to the total lack of performance the 1.3L 86hp funcargo engine delivers. So whenever I take the celica out, it feels like a real exotic sports car So I'm no help in judging the performance. Sorry.

hey I was just wondering how much space is there from the front of intake to engine bay frame, I'm asking as I'm looking into buying one and swapping out the filter for a bigger one
