Hey guys, I'd recently bought an 02 gts and am having an uncomfortable feeling in the clutch pedal. The clutch seems to grab high and low, but I think that is just me needed to adjust to the clutch.

My main concern is when I depress the clutch pedal. Usually, it's suppose to be smooth. When I slowly push down the clutch pedal, it feels a little notchy each time I depress the clutch further.

Can anyone help me out with this problem?

you may want to check your fluid levels, the clutch is a hydraulically assisted. Just like your brakes when the fluid is low, they don't work propery. If the fluid level is ok, look at it for discoloration (discoloration shows signs of leaking or contamination) they may need to bled off. IF thats not the problem then the cable that or the cable hardware could be faulty or have wear.

yeah, when i push my car hard, after that , the clutch feels really notchy. but that goes away after a couple of hours until i push it hard again. I think it's just my clutch going out. I need a new one. Thanks Xfactor...that was some good info.

I had the same problem. Bleed your clutch line on the slave cylinder. If your not sure how to do it, have someone do it for you, even if you pay them $20 or $40. Don't suck air back in the slave cylinder, because it will be hard to get out, unless you have a pressure bleeder. You can buy one at your local auto parts store and it comes with directions. This notchy feeling you're experiencing is little tiny air bubble in the slave cylinder, which isn't flowing smoothly. Mine has gone a way and boy does it shift good now (Like New).

my celica only has 11,000 miles on it. Kinda odd for such low mileage. How would I go about checking the clutch fluid level?

And this doesn't happen to me only at lift, it happens at normal driving.
