I was wondering if anyone here has painted/dyed the interior of their car...like the door panels and such...not just the center console...b/c i have a 2000 gts, got it in 99 so its almost six years old and the interior is fading cause i live in an apt with no garage; as you might know the 2000 dont have the dark gray interior like the newer models they have a light gray that has a purple hue that becomes even more aparent after sundamage...so i want to merely paint my interior black but i dont know how or what will work appropriately esp considering the texture of the panels

dang what the heck that looks really nice man. It gets me thinking how stupid or drunk toyota had to be to give us some purple interior on a sports car. Anyway, is this hard?? i never took apart my interior before.. The only thing i did was remove the console for the JDM console but that's it. Also, how do you dye it? Mukalicious, can you write up something for us cause i really want to do this! Thanks

It took me about a week to do mine cause I didn't know where all the screws were located and I had mono haha. It wasn't that bad, just time consuming... Also, it helps to know where all the screws are located and I think there are some pics of that in the gallery section, under technical.

I left my headliner alone but you can change the fabric to a different color.. the pillars and side panels were all painted at the same time and are just as easy if not easier. The hardest thing for me, was the dash removal.

Those pictures of the dyed interiors looks amazing. I think I'm going to try this once it gets warmer here. The process looks so easy. I figure the hardest part would be removing all the dash pieces and cleaning them really good. The dye is just like a spray can or can be brushed on depending on which kind you buy. A couple of light coats with some wiping between coats and that should be it. There are many different dyes, I wouldn't know which is better or the best. I would still love a write up on this, what products were used, and how you prepared the surfaces. The hardest part for me was the dash removal but everything else was pretty easy. This is the process I did, removed pieces, cleaned, sanded, applied adhesion promoter, then I applied the Duplicolor vinyl dye (flat black). And yes I sanded inbetween coats and applied a few more coats of whatever it was that I was applying. For the dye I think I put about 5-8 coats on, just to be sure. Also, for the center console, I used the original cars color. You can buy aerosol cans of your cars color from an Automotive Sherwin Williams or you can buy them at etouchup.com. And those are decals for the AC/heat controls that I bought from b0x@4sided.com. Here's a pic of "how messy" it can get.

It actually doesn't look like anything has changed but the color.. it came out perfect for me. But this is what I'm working on right now. It's going to have that fiberglass look to it. Here's two pics with flash and without. It looks better in person.

I was working on one of the pieces from the trunk and i noticed that there are a couple of dots that refuse to stick to the paint. What is the proper technique to fix this? Any help and suggestions would b greatly appreciated
