ok...well this project is takin a lot longer than expected due to bad weather, no garage and juggling work and school...but anyway here are some pics of my progress...i took them 4 days ago so i have made more progress but just in case anyone was interested here is what i used for this project (i found duplicolor was better than krylon fusion...so part of my interior is krylon and part is duplicolor but the colors are the exact same)

how do you take out that screw on the door panels where the locking switch is on? THere is a plastic piece but it doesnt seem to want to come out and i dont want to break it. Any advice, suggestions would b greatly appreciated.

How did you manage to paint the center console blue, and keeping the dash controls (ac controls, the dial controls) without painting them? did you mask them or have them done professionally?

im still hesitant about doing this for two reasons. I mean it looks really really nice and all, especially mukalicious' interior.. but i saw a thread on team celica where he put on masking tape on the interior and it just ripped off. Imagine that happening everywhere.. and later when you sell the car, might be a problem no? Also, the main reason is, i have no clue how to take out the dash.. anyone can help me?

sorry man...its literally rained non stop the past 4 days and as i stated before i live in an apt...so that means no work on the car or painting...sorry...trust me no one wants to get this done more than i do, i am driving around to work and school with my car looking like below (see pic below)...plus you got plenty of work on your hands...you said you were doing the trunk pieces now...you could move on to the door panels next...there is already a guide online for that...the door panels is the easiest thing to take off in the car (helpful hint: when taking off the bolt protectors on the inside of the door panel...located near the side mirror...use fishing string b/c poping them off with a screwdriver is difficult and leaves harsh gashes in the door panel)

yeah it's a crazy job, I started it, but I plan on just upholstering it all now. If anyone is considering doing this job something that makes it move faster is picking up some spare plastics for the big awkward pieces, ie dashboard and backseats.

VBSUURFER: does that mean you have been driving around without a dash, speedometer, etc? That is crazy but I figure you can jus flow with traffic and no one would be the wiser. Be careful though because it still seems dangerous.

I think I will work on the door panels next but i wont b able to work on them til next weekend

well i hope the rain stop so you can finally finish up this project. Im really lookin forward to seeing your 2-tone interior. I was thinking about doing a similar color scheme but I figured I would go all black and just have some carbon fiber trim pieces.

There was this Veilside celica at the chino hills meet here in CA and it had a painted interior. Here are some pics

i like that alot...the only thing is my colors are going to be reversed for the sheer fact of reflection...white hinders your vision when looking out the windshield...although i am tryin to improve the looks i dont want to take away from its function of being a reliable daily driver by adding a bright color scheme that obscurs my vision

PS...its not supposed to rain today grin

Looks amazing!
How many cans did you use and how many coats?
Just to get an idea of how much I should pick up.

I'm going to do the headliner in a month or so before the rest of the inside using the same stuff.
Mine's messed up anyway so it'll be practice.

$4 - for sand paper
40 - 10 black paint (rough estimate)
16 - 4 white paint (rough)
4 - 1 can adhession promoter
8 - 2 cans clear coat
2 - masking tape
7 - white vinyl to make my own door inserts
--------------------------------------------
$81

which isnt bad since a paint place wants $300 just to remove the dash...much less paint it
