Okay, hope you don't mind, but could you send me the guide as well please? I've wanted to do this, but was always kinda freaked I'd screw it up something awful, so help appreciated. This job looks so nice, you'd swear it came from the factory thumbsup It looks like such a nice expensive custom job. People are going to be asking who did it when they see it. Gotta be proud thumbsup goodjob

finally to touch on the guide...i made a rush job one to help gts drifter out...today i took more pics and will make a more detailed one...but you are going to have to wait til issaic posts it in the installs section b/c frankly i dont have the time or patience to email everyone that wants it...i have already gotten numerous PMs asking for it... so i will pm issaic and see if he will post it in the installs section

also everyone that thinks because there is a guide that this will be a cakewalk is dead wrong...its still hard as shit to remove the dash and very time consuming...not to mention you will cut the shit outta your hands reaching under there and unscrewing stuff

i dont know how good of an idea it was to make a guide...now everyone is gonna jock my style frown...it used to only be a few ppl with fully painted interiors and that was ppl who had a lot of money or the balls to take a risk and put in a lot of time

yeah dont worry, i doubt anyone will completely copy you. And just think most people wont have the patience to do it all, so they will do the first half good and rush the rest.
I myself dont even have that generation celica, and if/when i do paint my interior it will most likely be a black/grey combo.

With the white, how do you go for marks and grime? is it really noticeable?

And remember imitation is the biggest form of idolisation

INCORRECT; rear is entirely striped...seats, spare, vinyl and all..just a rear strut bar

nothing wink...seriously because when i ripped it off there was some foam left on there if you know what i mean so if you just tuck the trim back in it stays in place even when you rub against it because of the friction of the foam...see i had just put it in just to see how it would look and it turned out being really sturdy so i left it

VBSURFER, are you going to attempt to dye the plastic pieces on the front seats as well?
I noticed in the pics they were not dyed.
Would it be difficult to do so, in your opinion?

I'm going to try going black or blacker on the headliner tomorrow to see if it's worth doing every gray plastic piece inside the car and trunk.

my guess would be yes...actually im pretty sure if you use the duplicolor vinyl fabric paint...on the can it says its designed for vinyls, fabrics, and CARPETS...so i imagine if it works on carpets its not gonna cause anything to loose its texture

I have a question with explanation for those with freshly dyed interiors.
A friend of mine, who's brother is in the "automobile business", dyed this friend's dash and "kick panels" black. My friend told me because of the nature of his soft dash the dye wouldn't come off regardless.

For the kick panels or door panels, etc., he said a single little bump or slight scrap would mess it up and would be easy to do because he did it.
Is this true even with some clear coat?
I read of one person having trouble getting the dye to even stick.

Would a GB for SEM vinyl dye (a better product) for the whole interior have any influence for people dying their interior? Just thought I would throw this last bit in.

well as far as the kick panels...it is true...i have had my car like this for like 2-3 weeks...and i have slid my foot across the lower panels and scuffed them...you see if you make any indention in the plastic itself its gonna turn back to the natural color because underneath the surface is more of the original color because the original parts are made entirely of a certain color in the mold process(i dont know if i am making any sense)

point is...when i had gray panels i had scuff marks, black and white, from my shoes and they would not come off so i didnt expect painting it to be any differnt...these small scuffs do not bother me at all because i expected them...but they are hardly noticeable esp when the doors are closed...and if you were going to show your car it is by far the easiest part to remove, its just held in there by clips so yank it up, paint a few coats and slap it down and your ready for show...as far as sem vinyl dye not doing that...well i have no experience with the product

sidenote: in regards to the durability of my other parts (ie, dash, etc) they have no marks on them and i treat my car as if it came that way; meaning i dont take extra precautions just because i painted it (i was quite supprise that my cupholders have not scratched or scuffed, b/c i tend to throw junk in them frequently)

Was this hard to do? I want to paint my center console but I am not really experienced in this kind of stuff. On a scale of 1 to 10 10 being the hardest, how hard was this to do? And I also wondered where you bought the paint for this?

The buttons/knobs just simply "pull-off"

In most of this post's photos, the buttons were the only part of their project that remained stock. They removed the center console and buttons. Painted the only center console and then reassembled everything.

Currently performing an experiment to tron out my celica. I wanted something nonpermanent so I opted for vinyl wrap. Bought 4D carbon fiber, chrome, and black chrome rolls on ebay. I also bought an el wire. I started with removing the radio console. That was easy and the 4D carbon fiber went on well after 4 hours fiddling (first time). Next I did the driver side door panel (two days frown still not perfect). I've now decided it is probably easier to do with the door panel still on. I wrapped the console in chrome and added the el wire. Not sure if vinyl is for you but this project is not done yet and I've been dying to share.

The door seems to be a lot harder because of the curves. If you do anything like this, make sure to buy 5-8 foot rolls so you have enough for mistakes. I spent a little less than $100 for all the mateirals on ebay. The 4D wrap is fantastic and really does look crazy. I've learned not to force the vinyl. Let it go where it wants to go for the best results. If you force it, it will only peel back later and create an air pocket. Make plenty of cuts where needed. A smooth finish will alway win over lots of seams. Seams can't touch a design like this. I've decided that it is worth the effort. I will keep the vinyl and continue the project. I am going to go back to sharpie out visible seam lines later. As fas as difficulty goes, I would say the black chrome is the hardest to work with. Next is the regular chrome and last is the carbon fiber.
