ok, so my car acts up alot, what it does is. . the rpms tend to shoot up real fast as i punch the gas, then the rpms will rev at about 5000 for a little bit and come back down to about 3500. this happens all in about a 5 second period when i punch the gas. then when i get out of the car the engine has a weird almost burning smell to it. and i know its not the oil because i got the oil checked and even repalced and its fine. so does anyone have any suggestions as to what this may be?

put the car in 5th and at a low rpm, step on the gas. if the rpms go up fast your clutch is slipping.

Yep. If you can't install it yourself, you are looking at around $700-$800 all said and done.
