I know cryo treating them wil make them stronger but i don't know of many places that offer that.

skaters put their wheels in the freezer and it lasts 10x longer. maybe we can use the freezer trick for loft bolts? worth a try

There is a tank of liquid nitrogen here at work! How long do I need to leave the bolts in for?? (we use it for shrinking bushings for landing gears)

maingear: I dunno but I'd try leaving it in for a night or so. then when it thaws out, install it and see how it works. people do this to tranny gears too.

TRDxvvtl: no, the harder you drive the more wear will be put on the bolts so you should just check them every 3 oil changes.

This is a noob question from a noob about celicas, but what are lift bolts. Are they bolts they activate the lift? What does it do?

I just changed my lift bolts, luckily the old ones are not broken. Would it be a good idea to change them out every 4 oil changes/20K miles?

Chelica815 you really dont need to even check them ever 4 oil changes, but its just a precaution, wen you dont feel lift anymore is wen you really got to replace them.

I see, I see.

Regarding the O ring, I didn't even change that out, how much does Toyota charge for a new one?

And you can find the guide over at Team Celica. That was the one I used for replacing the lift bolts.

by then it's already too late. It's best to change them BEFORE they break.

hmm I'm gonna change mine next week, They've broken on me before and extraction wasn't as bad as i thought. Recently, I can engage lift, but its not near as hard as it use to be. I'm gonna replace the bolts and clean the filter so hopefully that'll fix the problem

You will prolly get ass raped if you go to the dealership. I say ask Lucky to do it for you if you are not comfortable or do not have the tools to exchange it.

I do not think changing your oil every 2500 miles will save you from a broken lift bolt. I change mine every 5K and my bolts were not broken when I swapped them out. I guess I was pretty lucky this time around.

Go to TeamCelica's website to see the install guide. I followed the steps there and got it done in under an hour. And that was including me cleaning the Valve cover.

Good luck.
