Unless they are doing it for show. I mean, what is the damn point of having loud ass speakers??? Is it so everyone around you can hear what shit you are listening to and it makes you feel badass? I've just never understood it because as long as you have a cd player and can hear your own CD's, then isn't that good enough?

It's just sad nowdays when people say, "what kind of system you got in there?" instead of, "what do you have under the hood?"

That is why I am downgrading to only 1x12" instead of 2x12". I am going to change out the side speakers and head unit tho. They pop and etc.

Uprading your sound system is ahrite, but not to a point where you got subs coming out of your ass.

I've always thought that a good system will bring the most out of your music listening experience. I got a headunit for my car the same time my dad got his new $6000 home theater system. The fact that I can turn up the sound louder than stock and it doesn't distort. I can hear music more clearly, down to the nuances (this is just with stock speakers, imagine with an amp and aftermarkets). Subs will add more punch to your sound, making it more full sounding. Thumping subs are good for rock and rap. Anything extreme is good for competitions and just plain cranking to make your friends jealous. Thats the reasoning as I see it. thumbsup

I've got my system...I cannot be without a system, I love music and having my system is the only way I can tolerate driving long distances...I hate when people are in my car that don't like loud music and we're driving far to Cali or Vegas...

It's also one of my cures for a hangover/bad headache/stress. I just turn up the bass and it fixes everything for me smile

plus, I love the vibration LOL

Exactly as stated above.

Stock stereo systems aren't nearly as crisp as aftermarket systems, even at low volume.

This thread wasn't very well thought out. tongue

i gotta system bc it sucks to hear your fav song with those factory POS'S and when you try to turn it up, all you hear is cracking and popping from your speakers bc they cant handle it..yea i got a system in my ride AND i still whoop people..i try not to street race and keep it on the track..thats where i take out all my stuff..subs, extra wheel, seats, etc...i had a pair of subs in my last car that rocked off my rear view mirror!! i havent put it back on still to this day...once you get subs, you cant go back...i have one 12 in the back and its light...i doubt im losing sooo much hp bc i got it in the back...

go drive a old corolla and you'll know...my sister's got one of those, i hate that car. stero is all high end even with a aftermarket hu(got it for her for her b-day last year). loud ass bass that you can hear a block away is gay, but you need a small system for at least reinforcement(im a sound engineer, need subs)

When your little one comes, April, remember they have sensitive ears. I like my music pretty loud too, but I always tone it down when I'm driving with my son.

I wish I had a better system then just the stock one, but I'm not about to put anything in that takes extra space in the trunk.

I'm "supposed" to have the "premi-sound" but I don't see any badging. I have 6cd changer, and I can crank it better that the Sony Xplode in the GT, I put infinity speakers in both so...? confused

I dont have a system but im thinking about getting one after a few mods. I had one in my '95 celi and I loved it. Its not to make me feel bad ass but I like music exp when the radio plays 1000 commericals I'm ready to pop in a cd and crank it up. I hate having to turn my stock system up to 40+ to get it at a good sound. Music just sounds better with the right stuff. I have a quad spaker/sub system on my computer and listening to mp3's on this is much much better than listening to them on my other computer exp my laptop. When I go on a long trip or im going to be driving all day you better believe I want good sound. Music just enhances my mood or can always make me feel better when the world around me is down. So if I got a system it'll be more for personal prefence not so much show or style. But hey if it helps out there too while pleasing me than its all good! thumbsup

Yep that about sums if up. I enjoy my music a lot and I like it loud and good quality so I spent some money to have a "system" put in so I can enjoy driving on another level, and yeah also so I can be a jackass and eithe rmake others listen to my awful shit or drowned other peoples stereos out. But I didn't go all crazy like most people, I updated my speakers to 6.5" audiobahns, I have two 10" Pioneer subs, JBL amp and a Panasonic MP3 deck. I kept it pretty minimal but also good sound but some times I kind of feel like removing the subs because their add weight, but I also drive around with a full size spare so it would make sense to remove that too but I haven't because I may actually need it.. thus meaning weight isn't a big issue for me.

For me, it's all about clarity and feel. If the speakers can't produce a nice clear sound, it ruins the music. You have to at least get a 10" or 12" sub to have nice clear bass w/o turning up the bass setting on your headunit (ends up sounding bad that way). The speakers are really for mid-range, not bass.

I have a single 12" in a bandpass box (doesn't take up too much room), an Alpine deck, and upgraded speakers and it's crystal clear. I don't blast my music, but I do have it somewhat loud sometimes depending on how I feel or what is playing. thumbsup

notice that the guys with the loudest, most abnoxious sound systems always have the worst taste in music? really, do i care to hear WTF you have on the radio if I'm minding my own business at the red? No, I dont like sh!t that sounds like polka, and no I dont enjoy the accordian -- so lower your volume because the whole world dont care what song you are craving to hear. we are all impressed by your ability to be annoying BTW. have some friggin consideration! (this is not directed towards anyone here, so dont flame me).

haha... thanks for your concern but don't worry about that... i don't want her to be deaf when she's 3...

i only have my bass up when i'm the only one in the car... or if the passenger likes bass too... but usually when i have someone with me i have the stereo down so we can hold a conversation...

The point is so when you're driving down the highway at 100 with your windows down that you can hear your music cool

but for real...there are a lot of guys who are really into their music. Do i need 600watts in my room? No. Do I have anyone to impress with it? no since no one but my gf comes over. But It's sweet to have excellent quality sound and be able to listen to it so you can actually feel it.

same thing for my car. I haven't had a system in my car for over 2 years...but now i'm savin up the money to get one because i'm sick of my stock speakers rattling because i'm trying to push out more bass.

video screens is for passenger comfort...when you take long trips, do you really want to listen to just music the whole way down? i know i dont, i hate it...it gets boring...thats why i got my flipscreen..so when the wife takes over driving..i can play my videogames or watch a movie...plus, how cool will it be with all your friends chillen one night during the summer, with nothing to do, and just pop the trunk and play videogames outside..thats bad ass...i mean, you already got a system, why not go all out?? plus how many of you guys can actually watch AND listen to your music? lol, its awesome when you can do that...
