Right now I have some 6500k bulbs and they are pretty blue compared to my stock bulbs, but I was just wondering if HID would be worth the cash? I really want a show look if I ever got HID's, so what would give out the bluest light without sacraficing that much brightness? At first I was thinking the 6000k, but then people have told me that they are just a bright crystal white, and I really want some blue in my HID for that luxury look.

Any pics would be very helpful. Thanks. thumbsup

That's true, but will the 6000 or 8000 still be brighter than stock?

its the same set up a new lexus would have. thumbsup phillips bulbs and ballast

Hoan(toiletpaper) we cruise a lot together and he says that it looks like an audi or lexus from the rear view mirror. While driving you can see different angles and the light changes from blue, purple, white thumbsup

So the effect of that luxury look is definately there!

mine are 6000k they are still blue as you can see in the other pix but have the more Optimal light output... the other car is Hoan(toilepaper) and he has the 8000k kit. As you can see its more blue but less light output. its just preferance. thumbsup wave happywink

I just might go with the 6000k because they look very good. Hey Hoan are the 8000k still brighter than stock?

I see you guys are from the bay area, and I will be up there during the weekend of June 10th-12th so we should all go cruising together! Even though my car is not even close to looking as good as your guys'. frown tongue

I have 6000k but I'd rather have more light on the road spineyes
idunnojust that the color you see in the headlamps is what you see on the ground frown purple cry everything seemed bright but dark at the same time thumbsdown so i'm switching to 4100k

real or stock oem hid systems.. the color is all due to the projector and other small factors liek the shield..etc.

Vision, a Korean bulb manufacturer, makes an 8000K bulb, which they used to advertise on Acura-Forums as 2000 lumens bright. This is barely a marked improvement over halogens, and will produce more glare and eye fatigue than it is beneficial. 4100K has been proven through tireless independent research by the Germans, Japanese, and Americans to be the most functional, truest white and thus the brightest possible color temperature (ceteris paribus).

Blue light also shifts the color hue of everything on the road to blue scale, which fatigues your eyes more than a standard halogen bulb, and it's brightness isn't that much of a marked improvement over a xenon-filled halogen bulb.

But 6000k is the most you should ever go IMO happywink thumbsup

and get Philips... Philips is the number one manufacturer of HID bulbs. wave and they don't make anything brighter than 6000k

it's the Xetronic Kit it's nice to cause it has an adaptor to replicate that plug that goes into the back of the H7's so unlike a lot of the HID kits out there you normally have to modify the retainer clip to hold in the new HID bulbs with this kit you don't have to it's a really simple install thumbsup

also Osram-Sylvania is quit good too.. Philips and Osram-Sylvania are the way to go in terms of bulbs.. and hella is typically the best ballast which is also the most expensive component of an hid system..

Philips and Osram bulbs have a lifespan of between 2000-2500 hours (the longest in production). Studies have shown that the average "alternative" Taiwanese and Korean-made bulbs last about 176 hours. This is largely due to massive defects attributed to poor manufacturing technique, workmanship, quality control..

also note..
Osram-Sylvania's highest color temperature bulb is 5400K and Philips' highest color temperature bulb is 5800K (marketed at 6000K Ultinon). Nowhere on either of their corporate or consumer websites do they claim, endorse, or offer any HID bulb or kit that produces light over 6000K.

in that auction?

be best not to rush things happywink I did and spent $700 on my hid kit ~about 3years ago thumbsdown I rushed.. didn't research enough and ended up with something I thought would get me what I wanted.. read up on Tony's reply give you a brief background on hid https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_252822_0_collapsed_5__1.html

the best but most expensive way is getting an OEM hid housing it'll give you both color and performance.. or doing a retrofit..going to make my own kit wink

mccullough hid kit's seem to be used by a lot of members on here I just haven't checked them out much..

Cool, anything 6000K+ will be hella nice on the Celica. I've seen 10000K on a Celica before and it looks bad ass cause it was bright as hell and had a tint of purple to it. Kinda like the BMW when they're further away.

if you want brightness and a bit looks go with 4300K. best brightest output.

if you want looks, go with 9000K HID with valeo projectors. 9000K is a lot different from 8000K, it looks blueish purple, while 8000K looks like white blue.
with the projector, the color will even get more colorful i think and output will be better. but the brightness on the streets will not be better than ur stock OEM bulbs.

Hopefully I get them tomorrow. I cant wait until I put them on. Does anyone have experience with installing McCollogh HID's? If so, is it very hard?
