well after going though all my plastics, spare tire, lubing all hindges, etc. i finally found out why my trunks creak and squeak when i go over bumps...apparently on the 2000 models there is a faulty weld near on the rear pillars. when i go over bumps the metals rub up against each other. now all i need to do is find a welder to fix this.

note this is NOT a potential danger...it just makes a lot of noise. even turning the volume up on the radio doesn't work.

basically FYI! wave

DUDE, my car does that same shit. I keep thinking it's the spoiler, but it's not, I keep pushing on stuff, pulling and pushing on the plastics, and it's nothing in there. I'm gonna have to check on that. Mine is a 01 though.

Thanks for the heads-up, my 00 is doing that also. Gonna look at the 05 and see if they changed anything. thumbsup

take the plastics out from your trunk...it's the pillars that hide the struts...

Im not sure what its called, but it seems like we can just take some instant weld stuff they sale at auto part stores and mold it on there, right? Or is the spot you need to tact down too hard to get to?

i just did a quick google and came up with this...

NO WAY!! slap
J-B Weld is not for structural use! Isn't that a nut holding a part of the suspension on (in the bad weld pic)? HYSOL (by LocTite Aerospace) is a structral bond, but there is no way to get it unless it is ordered through a repair station. It needs a proper spot weld!

If every single person on this forum emailed toyota about it, then they MIGHT recall it. More than likely we would still need to make an alter to the Toyota god and sacrifice lots of grain, goats, and young virgins. Time to go find a welder.

ive had the same exact squeeking coming from the back. PLUS, my sunroof squeeks when it is completely closed. I have to open it atleast a little bit so it doesnt squeek. i read about this squeeking problem on some toyota site, so im planning on taking it into the dealer for them to fix it.
