i haven't been able to do it nor has any one of my friends. i am getting an ACT clutch soon so i will tell you then. But, 2 things, wrong part of the forum and 2) scratching second isn't all that great. sure it sounds cool to your friends as a way of showing "power" but its better to not bark and get more acceleration out of 2nd then hurting your tranny and losing time

easy as hell! just shift out of 1st at almost redline...shift super quick into second and slam the gas...i can do it everytime and i dont even have a short shifter...if you are able to chirp your tires in second and maby third during a race...then you are good to go, that means that you are making some good, quick, solid shifts and you will have some good race times

Even before I got my RPS clutch. Not sure why you're having problems doing it.

Chirping the tires is really hard on the tranny. Easy to do. Redline 1st and slam it into 2nd and there you go. 3rd is harder but I have done it in a stock GT 5 speed. Easy to do but kills the clutch and tranny.

But if you do this really 'well'...you'll land your shift at about 7k...but notice your rpms will drop down to about 6 until your wheels gain traction again. It's good that you're landing in lift, yes, but too much wheelspin slows you down. The 'trick' is to land the 1-2 shift in lift..with minimal wheelspin...so the power you are making way up there in the rpm band is translated straight ahead...not into 'cool factor' of chirping ur tires.

this is a stupid thread. just like the other one. chirping is for birds NOT tires. if you're "chirping" the tires it means you're not driving right and you're slowing yourself down. I hate when people think this is a sign of power. it means you need better coordination. it mostly happens from poor clutch - gas timing. watch any of my videos and tell me how many times you hear me chirp the tires

this idiot thought "chirping" was so cool too. he attempted to create a "chirp in 3rd to show off his "power" by pulling up briefly on the e-brake. (this is done often by the mustang ricers, yes, they have their own idiots) here's the video of darwin at work. http://www.fordpower.net/05gt.wmv

If you chirp the tires = You don't know how to launch your car properly or = your tires suck

i must be confused because when i was talking about chirping the tires in a race...i ment that the tires literally chirp once... not chirping multiple times and loosing traction!...just that one-chirp that you get when shifting to second and the car lurches forward when the tires grab (no lag in RPM). do yall know what i am talking about or am i just stupid?...lucky, you are the exbert here! school me real good!

that small chirp is still the tires losing traction for a quick second there for you are losing valuable time.. that in some races will matter. A perfect shift would be no lose of traction, no chirp, and still getting the surge of power foward

Like i said in the other post chirping tires in most cases slows you down but like everyone in the celica community knows, landing 2nd gear without "chirping" at 5800ish is a lot slower than landing 2nd gear "chirping" at 6300ish

^^ like I said it slows you down. also notice the drag radials on. That video is a perfect example of what I was talking about. the next run I made that night I ran an 8.9 (lemme look for the video link.) It was my first time running dr's and it was a lil wierd for me lol

my question is how are you supposed to land lift without the wheelspin and run a decent time with stock ecu?

my question is how are you supposed to land lift without the wheelspin and run a decent time with stock ecu? It isn't hard at all. I always land lift at 8400 redline and don't chirp at all. Like lucky said, chirping doesn't mean you're going faster. Nice driving lucky... damn you ran 14.0 N/A? geez.. what are your mods? Ahaha

But imo, I think it shows that you have some skills in shifting and being consistent. I can do it sometimes from shifting 1st to 2nd but never did it to 3rd (not enough torque). now that I have 18's, I can't do it at all.
If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.

my question is how are you supposed to land lift without the wheelspin and run a decent time with stock ecu? Shift at fuel cut and when you get back on the gas, time the gas with the clutch correctly, and don't give it an insane amount of gas before you release the clutch completely.

i'm not gonna argue this anymore but gear ratios with stock wheels shifting at 8350rpm will not land you in lift... Wheel spin or slipping the clutch must occur to land 2nd gear in lift

I have he stock 16" GTS rims, but for the tires, i have kumho supra z-rated, which is probably why i dont chirp at all for anthing.
