Celica Forums General Discussion General My friend and I got surrounded by 15 cop cars tonight!

So my friend and I just installed some HID's on our cars so we decided to go out to a dark, big open area and take pics of our cars. We were there taking pics for about 30 minutes when we hear a helicopter above us and see that it has the spotlight right on us. We were unsure what to do, so I just said, "let's go, I guess that means that we cant be here" so we get in and just cruise on out of there. I was relieved because the helicopter turned off its spotlight, but was still above us.

Then we reached a stoplight and all of a sudden a cop car speeds right next to us with his lights flashing and tells us to turn off our vehicles. In a matter of SECONDS, about 10-12 more cop cars arrived surrrounding my friend and I. They take us out of our cars and search us, meanwhile there are even more cop cars arriving. We sit down and they take our license and go see if we have any warrants I guess, so then I ask him what's going on and he says that this is a bad night for us to be out (I'm thinking WHY??) so then he asks what we were doing and we told him just taking pictures of our cars, so we show him the pics. So the cops keep asking us questions and they finally tell us that they were really suspicious because we took off when the copter was over us, and that we should have just waved at the copter and not take off (well, how was I supposed to know that we should wave?).

So then another cop arrives, gets out of his car, and asks his parter, "were they drag racing?" and then I started thinking oh shit they are gonna get us for that because of how our cars look (even though we were not racing). What's funny is the cop that said that knows my friend, and when he saw my friend he was like, "Hey ruben what's up! (tell his partners) This guy did not do anything, I know him and his family, they are good people." When I heard him say that I had a big sigh of relief. Then they came back and told us we were clear and apologized. They said they were doing a gang sweep all last night and tonight so that is why they are pulling over so many people.

This night ranks as one of the most scariest nights I have ever had!

LMAO well I can finally laugh, but when it was happening I about shit my pants. Especially when he asked me, "have you ever been arrested before?"

O shit, I am def. going to wave when a helicopter pulls out the light on me, hehe. Thanks for the tip and good thing nothing bad happened to you.

I forgot to mention that while all this was happening, a tow truck passed by and I thought he was going to tow our cars and we would be arrested. At this point I was actually pissed because we didn't do anything wrong at all. Luckly, the tow truck was going somewhere else.


Yeah, but definitely wave if that ever happens to you. The cop told us that if we wave we are telling the helicopter officers that we are just taking pictures and doing nothing wrong (in our case at least).

We are going to definitely get some better pics because they all turned out blurry for some reason. We need to figure out how to use my friends new camera properly.

The gangs in L.A suck. They are everywhere. Im glad the cops are trying to do something about it, but it sucks that sometimes they get innocent people by mistake. But since everything went alright for you that night, we all can laugh at it. In a good way I mean. But, if I may|hahahahahahahahaha!!!

well that shit sux. i know cz my friends been in this condition and even worst.
the cops chased him with a chopper, cars, got him, handcuffed him, walked over and kick his head with their legs. all for nothing, wrong accuse. 3 minutes later everything was cleared up
