I will soon be getting a 1992 1.6L Celica ST (not hatchback) from my older brother. The car is in good shape, but it is extremely slow. I was wondering what kind of options there are for this car, or if an engine swap is a must or if an engine swap is even possible? If adding some other parts will kick up the hp a bit thatd be great too, but I don't know where to start.

Thanks in advance!

How much would that run me? Not including labor? Or better yet, are there any more reasonable things? Im seeing those engines as costing 2k+...

3s-gte swap would be nice and then turbo the hell out of it. but everyone does that swap.

heck, I am not looking for originality, I am just looking for some more power. with the 3sgte swap, what other parts are involved other than the engine? since my soon to be celica is an ST I'd imagine other stuff would be involved, mayhaps a new trans?

How accurate is the $5k estimate? As much as I'd like to do this, the Celica has about 128k miles on it and has some slight body damage (a few dents here and there from an accident a few years back)

If the 5k is about right, I may not be able to swing it even after working all summer.

eh, it's just one site's opinions, your milage may and probalby will vary so to speak.

I just though it would make a good reference, or starting point if you will.
