does anyone have an airbag kit or air suspension on their celica? because i just sold my jeep and am going to purchase a kit for it since my car always grounds out. any thoughts?

i had an integra with bags and 10 switches. worst mistake of my life!

if its not an everyday driven car. go for it.

but if you drive it more than 1 time a week, you will have driving

hmm why will i hate driving? what is so differnt with them on instead of normal suspension?

^^^your airbag suspension will NOT be the same as the stock suspension. you are more likely to tip over trying to take corners at high speeds, unlike if you had the stock suspension (or upgraded springs, struts, shocks) where you can take corners at high speeds.

what would the airbags be like in the winter and is there any other problems with them other than not being able to corner as well?

I think airbags is more for show, if its a daily driver i def would advise against it...

before you drive, you have to start it up for about ten minutes, then you can raise it up. I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver. I was also going to get this, but i changed my mind. You have to worry about airleaks and it not working. One day you can drop your car to the ground, then later come back and it doesn't work, then your stuck with a LOW ass car. It's just one of those things where you have to maintain a lot.

thats why theres manual overrides if something should happen so you can raise the car with no problems, its not that big of a deal

well my car is already really low so i need some way to get away from grounding out. and why would you have to wait 10 minutes for it to start up? the compressor will be full and you should be able to fill up the bags until it empties..and you say i wouldnt be able to use it as my daily car anymore? why not?

I'd say go with some nice coilovers. That way in the summer you can slam 'em, and in the winter you can raise 'em.

You guys have to remember "airbags" is a generic term for air suspension. There is actual airbags, there are air struts (struts with an airbag over it) and air cylinders, each will give a different ride. Air bags and struts ride the best, air cylinders ride the worst because they take more pressure to lift the car then an airbag. As far as handling goes, yes you may lose some handling, but for most normal everyday drivers thats fine for them, but you HAVE to run shocks, and to help stop the body roll leave the sway bars in. A car with air suspension is fine as a daily driver, I've been driving my truck with airbags everyday with over 500miles a week and I have never had a problem driving or anything breaking down. The biggest thing in keeping bags reliable is to use quality parts..don't use cheap parts just because they are cheaper..

I had a kit on my integra. yeah it was like 5-6 min, the reason me saying ten was when i start early in the morning, and the kit i had was around 9-10 just in the mornings. The first couple of days when i got the kit installed, i had a couple of leaks, but after that, it was ok. I had the simplest line of airride kit you can get around my area. So there was no override switch on my car. I couldn't afford all the extra things. It ran me about 1100 with install. 4-5 months, a strut would go out,and they couldn't find a reason why it did that, so i had to get it replaced. That's why i was done with that and got some low tanabe springs on my celica. Handling wasn't as bad as people say. Ride was decent also.

That is an AIM industries website, stay away from ANYTHING they sell..Their stuff is crap.

Check store.gaugemagazine.com (i believe), for compressors and valves and stuff go to www.suicidedoors.com [suicidedoors.com] . If you're really serious and can't find anyone that has a nice kit, let me know and I can get you the number of a local guy around here that has done a bunch of cars and see if he can help you out.

I ordered all my stuff from suicidedoors.com, but they mostly make kits for trucks, although they have good prices on all the compressors and everything.
Those kits at store.gaugemagazine.com are kits made with Airlift parts, they make some nice stuff. I actually have airlift bags on the front of my truck. I didn't see the a kit for the celica's but they may be able to tell you what they have that would work on one.

Their kits are nice because the are complete, meaning they have everything you need, if you had to go out and buy DOT fittings yourself those would be around 200-300bux alone.

I know the prices are like twice as much at gauge magazine then at airbagit.com, but trust me, you'll regret it if you go with the airbagit.com kit.
