if you have a 1zz (gt) you can swap the 2zz (gts) engine into it.

another 'common' swap is the 3sgte.

yes it would cost way too much to swap in a 3sgte engine making it not worth it..

Yeah, but the 3S-GTE engine is (arguably) the best engine ever made.

as much as i make fun of the movies..i know for a fact i'd see part 3. if for no other reason than it celebrates sport compacts..albeit in a ricer manner

i had a post just last week about the same question. you seemed to get a lot more response from yours. i got to wonderin the same thing after seeing the post on powerful toyota motors. i never realized there were so many engines. if you haven't looked at that post, your missing out. i give props to that dude. there was so much info it was crazy. has anybody made any of those engine swaps described?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a 2JZ-GTE, but the 3S-GTE is used in some drag Supras because of the weight difference. If anything, try and drop the Toyota 2.7l I4 (from a 4Runner i think confused ). You'd get more displacement and if you built and turbo'ed you'd be set.

I think conducting a 1ZZ -> 2ZZ swap in our car is a waste. If anything, do the swap that combines the two into the 3ZZ. Or, go to http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com and buy one of their built motors for the Celica.

As far as the 3S-GTE is concerned, I do believe it is one of the best motors ever built by Toyota. I still think it falls behind the 2JZ-GTE. The 2JZ will handle almost 1000 HP before it shows signs of problems. That being said, I know of a popular Supra that is Gold in color that dropped the 2JZ in favor of the 3S-GTE motor, and it was still hella quick.

^^ haha would that be the top secret supra? gotta love top secret and all their gold-painted cars thumbsup thumbsup

the benefit of doing a 2zz swap on a 1zz is that it is practially a direct drop in. that's platinum in the toyota world where NOTHING ever drops in. (toyatas definately aren't hondas)

the 3zz is not a combination of the 1zz and 2zz it is merely a 2zz that has been bored to a 2.0L and has a different crank but its not from a 1zz, the 3zz kit includes the Engine Crank, Connecting Rods, Pistons, Crank End Spacer Ring, Crank End Oil Seal, Front Spacer Washer, Metal Head Gasket. the compression was upped to 13:7:1; info on the 3zz here http://www.trial.co.jp/trial-usa/celica/3zz.htm

Man unles you plan on runnin race gas in the 3zz with the 13:7:1, it aint worth all the money(at least no to me). So much compression, you need to run it with at least 110 octane fuel all the time

XS does make a full turbo kit for the Celi, the 2jz that you see out in the pro dragsters were never a celica (they are built from the ground up) and the 3gste is the swap of choice of all of the celicas in the JGTC. And for those of you who don't know what the diffrent engines are then here is a very well put together article by our very own Admin Street Prototype >> https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f0_1870096276_0_collapsed_5__1.html#1870096276 [/color]

Isn't that Trial Celica also supercharged? I ask because the Trial Celica is in GT4 and is supercharged in the game.

i'm sure it is slow anyway, a stock gts isn't that fast lol.
and good luck with the money you dump into it just for performance when your car is not suited for it.
i'm trying to give you a logical reasoning to what you may try to do

well i dun see how my celica isnt suited for no performance i guess since it has a wide body? or im guessin the huge rims or even bunch of the custom stuff then i guess it isn't and i kno to a lot of people a stock gts wudnt seem "fast" but you shud consider that i am 16 and a new driver and you have had what like 2 years more driving experience then me? then obviously it might not seem fast to you but to me it has more then enuff speed i wud need and like i said earlier im trying to get more knowledge in the "celica motor area" so if you don't mind cud you not say stupid things like "i guess that car is too slow for you with all that shit on it" because thats jus pathetic thumbsdown

No offence to Celica_GTS_1, but does anyone else think it's unfair for a 16 year old who doesn't even know how to drive to have that particular car?

In case I offended you at all, I'm sorry. I don't really like it when people buy a pre-built show or street car, because I feel everyone should mod and build their own car (at least their first car). That and I'm just super jealous.

I think that the head was codesigned by yamaha, not the whole engine.

Found this page this morning, it might be of interest to some:

Taken from:
http://www.sportscarforums.com/archive/index.php/t-1819.html

"Click here (http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/9975/dataBySubject/GasolineEngines.html#A-series) This is THE most comprehensive index of Toyota gasoline engines on the internet.

engine wise, Toyota labels their engines by series, family and head design. For example, 4AGE means the engine is the 4th edition of the A series engine. The G is the head type (G is a sporty head with wider angle, F is an economy head with narrower angle), and E means it is fuel injected (non-fuel injected engines do not have a code after the head code - 4AG is the same engine but carburated).

It's actually read 4A-GE, since the engine series code can have two letters (ie. 1ZZ-FE, 2ZZ-FE, 2AZ-FE)."

Engine series code can have more than 2 letters.
T = Turbocharged
Z = Supercharged
For example: 3S-GTE, 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GTE, 7M-GTE, 4A-GZE, 22-RTE, ...

Actually, you'd be fine with 100 octane...

Besides, anything higher than 100 octane is NOT street legal, since higher octane levels will only appear in leaded fuel, which you can't run on the street anymore.

EDIT: actually, I think there are now a couple of sport compact formulations that have higer octane in unleaded formulas, but they only approach 108-109 octane. Either way, racing fuel is expensive.
