Ok, this is a majorly dumb question, but what is that black plastic tube that runs from the ecu box (the box that says DO NOT OPEN in flamboyantly large letters) to down underneath the radiator? What's it called and what does it do? I took it out to put on my CAI... will this hurt it?

Hmm I have no clue...I guess as long as you DO NOT OPEN it, it won't do any harm LOL. Have you tried calling your local Toyota dealership?

that tube is there to keep ur ecu cool..i think..i read it somewhere about it..but it don't hurt nothing if you remove the tube..just don't remove the ecu cap..leave that alone..i'm running with half of that tube, just the top portion is hooked onto the ecu box, the bottom portion that hook to the radiator is in my room, in the closet..

thats there to cool the ecu.
the ECU is just like a computer, it will heat up if its on. now that you took that off, the hot air from the engine bay is gonna enter through the hole instead of the cool air that the pipe is faced down for.
its up to you though if you wanna let hot air go there or not.

Where does that long tube connect to underneath the radiator? Does it hook into a place that lets cool air flow up into the ecu box?

Yeah at the bottom of the radiator mount, (the plastic part) there is a hole that the bottom of the tube snaps in to.

yeah if you keep it off. And your ECU will heat up and may throw a CEL at you (Check Engine Light) You may want to consider putting that black tube back on.

hot ECU = slower performance = CEL and the car may even shut it self off because the computer is trying to protect it self

Doubt you will have a problem. I have run without it for 2 years. Countless people said they hadnt had theirs on for a while and no problems.
