thought this was an excellect idea-so i bought it--its a magnetic oil drain plug-that collects metal particles in your oil-when you change your oil just wipe the particles off and re-plug--this has to be good for the motor life...

i'm trying to think if i remember something of that concept being that went around the oil filter, magnetized, and trapped metal particles in the filter...

yeah i have one, works okay i guess. every oil change i do notice the tip of the magnet has a nice amount of microscopic shavings on it. also cool because when you do oil changes you can just stick it to the side of the oil pan while you let it drain, no losing the plug.
only thing is don't use that aluminum gasket they supply more than once. change it with a new gasket from toyota. supposedly you can use it over again but when i did it leaked abit.

so if they're microscopic...how do you notice them? j/k pretty cool, it can only help. it's worth noting though that almost all synthetic blend and pure synthetic oils have properties that suspend impurities (such as metal scrapings). but still like i said, it can only help to take the bits totally out of the equation. this is what i ASSUME anyway
