Hey buddy, i was going to do the exact same thing you did. bought pre epoxied c/f that is long enough (hard to find in that length) and was all ready to do it. Then when i traced it out i found the hood bends in a few differnt ways as well as trying to find out how to glue it on. I took it to a shop (went through 3 shops to find one that would touch c/f) and he told me 100 to glue it on (40 for epoxy and 60 for labor) i really just coudln't figure out what epoxy to use and what to do at the end of the hood (thinking of using a smal strip of electrical tape to end it. So i gave up on the hood strip, and cut it up for other projects (gas door, heatshield, behind licenseplate and have some left over wink )

Now after saying that and trying to change your plans wink here is where i got my carbon fiber. jthorson@charter.net he is a great seller, can find his stuff on ebay. Email him, makes his own c/f. the piece i got from him was 40x16 pre epoxied and semi ridgid sheet for 56 shipped. And he shipes it so not to bend it.

If you have more quesitons pm me. If you do get this done let me know how it goes and what you end up using to glue it on wink

this shows it flexability. this is aobut the max it will bend. more then this the epoxy cracks. now the problem with the hood is that is curves downa dn to the side and this stuff doesnt really bend like that. Well it may jsut need a good epoxy to hold it down, and wont unglue with heat from engine and sun. feel free to pm me with questions

and also it can be cut with good scizors, jsut cut slowly and use a nail file to sand down the edges that may be ruff and have little cracks, works great

buy a carbon fiber from any online store. cut it into shape, apply resin, let it soak and dry. then apply again. 3 layers of resin would be nice. sand it down the buff the resin to have that glossy mirror finish.

what about screwing the piece down onto the hood using recessed screws then cutting a small pieces of carbon and placing that over the screw holes?

there are no vinyl carbon fiber that will look good. i have seen all kinds (checkboard, 2x2 semi faiding looking, odd circle kind) all dont look like it. you could screw it in but this stuff is to thin to recess in it so that wont work frown its like as thin as a few sheets of paper, kinda liek the plastic on the front of a 5star. you jsut need to find a very strong, heat reistand epoxy to glue it down.

I have seen people just use bluebatmobile vinyl strip but in black, blends well.

ok--plan B--i looked up buying the carbon weave--$60 for a yard-the clear coat resin is $50--i think i will just use pnoy idea and cut it out to the shape of the hood--clear coat resin it--glue it on--it should be a perfect form fitted piece--there will be enough parts to make 4 of these pieces-so i will sale the others

lol, i am stuck in a dorm so i am unable to do more frown i'm sorry buddy. but you can have one done for about $50 to have ur current one overlayed and clearcoated. You can email kenny ot see how much he wants for it, khavenger@tds.net, but i knwo http://www.fibercation.com/ does it for 50 when you ship ur door to them. i almost did that but found it was cheaper to do it myslef wink theres will be show quality though where as mine is a tad ghetto wink
