I have a 2000 Celica GT with 106,000 miles on it. I baby this car like crazy. About 10,000 miles ago the check engine light came on. I took it to a local dealer here and they gave me the code P0171. Running lean in bank 1. I swapped out the plugs for new Denso Iridiums and cleaned the MAF sensor. The car ran fine for almost 3 months. My girlfriend ran to the store, came back and told me that the check engine light was on again. Not a problem. I open the intake air box and realize that the butterfly valve is stuck closed. I remove the valve reset the ECU and it's off for another 3 or 4 weeks. In that time I put almost 2,000 miles on her. Girlfriend again borrows my car to run to work. This time she calls me because the car stalled and the CEL is on again. I'm like WTF!!!!! This is not funny. I got the car towed back to my house. As soon as it's there it starts right up and idles just fine. The CEL is still on and won't go away but does anyone else think I should just get rid of the girlfriend the to fix the car or what...

Yeah I plugged up the tube and that worked just fine. I just can't seem to understand how differently can she be treating the car that makes it want to die whenever she touches it...

I tried that...I'm sure glad I spent money on a new couch and not on a body kit that I really wanted. LOL

Yeah I don't think your celi likes your girl. They're prolly competing for your attention. Happens too often.

I do apologize to the girlfriend but sometimes you have to choose sides. If they can't get along they can't play together anymore.

See I really don't like that because of the steep prices on those things. I guess I'll have to check the CEL again and see what the mechanics say might be wrong with her... :whatever:

Go to Autozone, and get the CEL code pulled for free.
When was the last time you used fuel injector cleaner? If you indeed are running lean again, this could be the problem.
