There's a good chance it might come back since their F1 team is doing really good this year...the best they've ever been. So Toyota might want to celebrate if they continue to have a great season with a new sports car.

i'll have to say toyota has something up their sleeve when you DO see spy shots of a car...and this is not related to the 100k car they want to make (sold through lexus..but i don't see any point in making it)
they REALLY do need to add a car to the market priced around and STI or less that is turbocharged, hot, practible, and fast. the fact is that it could be late for something like that, which is why they dropped those Scions on us.

Toyota needs to do something because they have a lot of "slow" cars on the markey and nothing really to compete with as of today.

Remember, they're going to continue to sell the Celica in Europe/Asia, at least as far as we know. But they may be planning to do away with the Celica altogether, and use the assembly line for the new Supra. Just speculation, of course.

Theres an odd kind of symmetry to this; Supra was born of Celica. If you go to http://www.toyota.com/html/shop/vehicles/supra.htmlToyota says this of the last Generation Supra and our current Generation Celica: many of the technological lessons we learned building the Supra, along with its racing spirit, have been passed down to the sporty Celica and the exciting MR2 Spyder. Im hoping that design philosophy goes into this up coming Supra, and they use lessons learned, and feed back from our Celicas and their owners for this next Gen Supra. If Mitsubishi can combine their MIVEC technology with a kick ass turbo then I hope we can expect to see Turbo and VVTL-I, that would be a rush.

Toyota has been the innovator in that class, the Prius flew of the lots, could'nt keep up with demand...it's not likely that they would give up on that. The Supra will be hybrid, over 300 HP...that's my bet!

Then it's possible some new aftermarkets will pop-up. BTW, if you look at this pic real good, it definately has some Celica angles, but not enough room for a V12, as stated above.

This article explains that it is NOT the Lexus LF-A, and it is an article not an "ad." I don't think Edmunds would be so goofy as to print BS!

You completely missed the point, read the statement again: many of the technological lessons we learned building the Supra, along with its racing spirit, have been passed down to the sporty Celica and the exciting MR2 Spyder. The lessons they learned and the experience they gained from building the Supra, went into building the Celica, not actual parts. Dose the phrase design philosophy mean anything to you? And by the way the VVTi concept was an important innovation introduced in the last gen Supra, and guess what, they used that technology in the Celica. In the Current Celica GTS the VVTi concept was taken a step further with the introduction of Lift (gee what ya know another lesson learned) my hope is, and the point I was trying to make was I hope they continue to pass down lessons learned to the next gen Supra.

Wow, the one article is dated last November, so it's not real old. What I think we are doing is arguing over sisters! The LF-A and Supra are obviuosly going to be built on the same platform, look at the doorlines of all three, they look alike! We are all correct! Thanks for posting those, it should be clear to all now! I wish I could post all three pictures together...
