i was thinking about getting lambo doors next spring, and to do that i gotta start saving money right now because i'm also gettting a body kit. wut i wanna now is that can you get lambo doors on an every day driver car. lemme tell how much i drive. i have an 02 celi that i got in august of 2002 and as of today i have 19000 on it. so i was wondering will it be wise for me to get lambo doors on my car or not? today i went to a car show around my area. pretty tight looking cars, but no celis. my car is nice, i luv my car. every body was looking and ppl gave me mad compliments on my detailed engine and interior. and they loved my exhaust but i took second place in my class. i know i could've had first if i had a body kit or best of all just lambo doors. n e ways, so after todays disappointment i was wondering if it will be wise for me to get the lambo doors. also what kinda problems could i have if i was to get it on an every day driver car. plz, i'm very stressed out.

Well, first off...if you get lambo doors, you'll automatically be put in the wild class in shows. Even a body kit might bump you up in class. Mine is a daily driver (over 60 miles/day) I've had my doors for about 20,000 miles and haven't had any problems or the people that I've installed them for. I guess it just depends on how good the install is...

Do a search on the forums, you'll find a lot of posts about people problems with them. I remember one guy who had lambo doors was saying that he barely ever drove his celi then one night he decided to drive it to the grocery store and when he opened the door, as soon as the door reached the top the whole door fell off, damaging his sideskirt, fender, and not to mention the driver side door. Just be sure that those doors are an investment that your willing to commit to, and if you decide to do it pay a good price, don't try and get something like that off eBay or some crap like that

Comics problem, and he'll tell you...was a sh*tty install and horrible customer service by his shop. I'll take care of that tomorrow though wink

But problems that COULD happen over time would be gas shocks going bad (replace) or maybe the doors squeeking? (but that would just mean lubricating) These are 33 lb. iron hinges, not much could go wrong w/ the hinge themselves. Only the gas shocks

All types of problem?!? Why don't you do a search Barrett and show me all these posts...I only know about comics problems he's having. Ian hasn't gotten ANY complaints about his product so far and he's sold a whole lot of these kits to different makes of vehicles. But, please, show me all these "problems"

I don't need to b/c I'm not interested in getting lambo doors, I just want people to do research before they decide to invest $2000 to get these doors. don't think i'm trying to trash you or your car, If your stuff works, great, I hope it keeps working great for you thumbsup but I just want people to make informed decisions, I'm sure comic has spent a ton of money on installs and repairs which is a major drag and I want people to know the history of the products their interested in, good and bad history.

the way i see the quality of the hinges is like this

the kit itself-great
installation-this is where it matters,if its a good install it might end up lasting longer than your car,if its bad it will last shorter than a pine tree air freshner

Also you might want to get any fenders and/ot side skirts that you'll want to get, then get lambos so the can install them around them. I could be wrong but I'm thinking that if you get a difeerent fender and/or sideskirt that it might interfere w/ the door. Good luck thumbsup

ok guys thnx for all the help, yea i know that it could be a risky investment. as goes for the installation, well i know this for a fact that i will do the install myself or get it done from a fellow celica owner who has done thses installs and has been successful. and will get nothing other then the carexess vdc kit. because i've heard basically good stuff about them. the reason for me installing it myself or from another celi owner is that i don't rust n e one else w/ my car. i know that i will take my time and be patient w/ everything. also i like to take much pride in the work i do or hope to perform and this way perhaps if i do one hell of a job i can help others w/ this and make all our celis the phatest rides out there, hypothetically (i mean not everyone is gonna have these on their celis and a lot of ppl don't want them. but i tell ya lambo doors r the hottest things. i mean all you need r lambo doors and you got it made. well once again thnx. and oh yea phatceli, where do you live. because if i do get this kit, i would want to do it under ur supervision or w/ ur help, thats if you don't mind. i live in michigan but i wouldn't mind driving out a few states. thnx

if you want them get them...
as long as you know whoever is going to install them does the right job...
the doors are not bad quality, most shops probably have no idea wtf they are doing so that's why they go wrong...

I feel that this is exactly the reason why. Most shops just don't have the experience required to perform this type of conversion or they just don't have any experience at all with Lambo hinges. Shop will just say anything to get your cash.

Second, I'm not sure why Barrett said "A lot of posts about people having problems with them". I only heard of two people that had problems with the Lambo hinges.

1. Jamey: He doesn't have the Carexcess.com hinges he purchased them from Springman. Jamey doesn't recommend the Lambo hinges for daily drives but he has stated several time that Springmans/KillerKustoms treated him awesome. This means he received GREAT customer service. Sometimes this is more important.

2. Comicbookguy: He is the person whose door fell off but as PhatCellyGT and Comicbookguy stated, the shop that did the installation caused this. Unlike Jamey's car shop, Comicbookguy's car shop gave him the worst customer service. Even thought they f*cked up the installation they want to charge him more to fix it. This is horrible.

However, I don't totally disagree with Barrett, I also feel you shouldn't just take someone's word for it. It's Great to ask for advice but make sure you do some research for yourself. I've done a lot of research on the Lambo hinges and in a couple of weeks, I will join the club and have the lambo hinges on my Celica.

true, i just had phatceligt look at my car today and WHOA!! he said it was fu*k up . my shop installed it wrong to begin with so it led to much , much more problems. its going to happen to you too ,if your shop does not know what they are doing . i mean they can say they know like all the shops in my area. but to be honest , i tried 4 shops who were the only ones willing to do it. they all said they can do it with no problem. but after its done all kinds of problems occur. thats because they really have not install them enough to get it. 1 or 2 times is still not enough. the only one right now who can do it that i know of is phatceligt and ian himself from car excess. if anyone here gets lucky enough to get one of these guys to do it. WOW you will save ALOT of money and hassles in the future. these will be some of the luckyest people. i got soooo fustrated , i cant even begin to tell you . it was sooo much money and time wasted for me. but thanks to phatceligt who happens to live 45mins away from me. hes the best . i trust him with what he is doing . this guy is the best when it comes to these doors. to those lucky few who can get him to do it. YOU ARE VERY LUCKY PEOPLE and you have just yourselfs from lots of problems in the future. way to go. now use the extra money and go buy more mods or chill out ..wow im starting to feel much better now.almost have a car with working lambo doors after 6months of bs... cheers goodtimes : only 1 more week ...cant wait...phatceli bro, cant thank you enough... smile thumbsup

Yes i have the Springman's door kit. The only problems that i have come across so far is the gas shock on my drivers door is bad, which i am getting replaced in the winter.

I just don't feel that it is a daily driver MOD. It can be a pain in the ass sometimes if your hands are full to lift the door open.

Also, having lambo doors will not but you in the wild class all the time. It depends on what else you have done to the car to make it mild or wild. The reason i know this is that i am a NCCA Judge.

Stun:

If you are looking to get the doors done, either go thru Carexcess or Springmans. If you go thru springmans let me know and i can get you a pretty killer deal.

It's too late. I was one of the four people that purchased them from the Carexcess.com GB that PhatCellyGT was running. Just a few more weeks and I will have them in my porch. Finally, I will join the Lambo club. thumbsup Just out off curiosity, what is the killer deal you could come up with?

i installed lambo doors by my self.
because VDC kit from carexcess is NOT PERFECT, and some modifications are needed.
of course, it is true its the BEST kist in the world.

modifications...
1: i re-drill the holes
2: i welded all the bolts
3: i fixed firmly all the screws by cement glue
4: i shaved the metal stopper not to scrape the hinge

i am a daily driver. i have driven my celica 2 weeks w/o problems. that's my answer...

Damn Satoshi...I didn't have to do any of that to my kit. Ask Comic, it's MONEY and I've had in on for a LONG time smile
