I love the way the story changes:

http://www.koin.com/news.asp?ID=1908

Ryan Champ told KOIN News 6 that he wasn't racing but simply wanted to see how fast his car would go. He claims that he was in control the whole time.

"According to Klare, Champ said he was trying to catch up to someone who had thrown a bottle at his car."

He was charged with reckless driving.

Champ could end up paying a fine of more than $6,000 and up to one year in jail. Champ told police he plans to race the car at Portland International Raceway.

what's the point in telling the police that he plans to race at Portland International Raceway? It's not going to help the fact that he is royally screwed...moron wtf

No insurance No Driving License! slap

I've been lucky, but not stupid. I am nowhere near any city when I exceed 100Mph. That ensures no troopers or cops. The only troopers I saw were going the other way! Even if they tried to turn around, their cars only do 120 ( without a light bar, less with one)

Is there anyone who has NOT tried to see how fast their car can go?

120 without a lightbar, you're kidding right? Unless your troopers are running the old '80s cars, there's no way they top out at 120.

I've seen impala's run 120+, stock, not the interceptor models. I've also seen footage from SC trooper's dash-cam where they were in excess of 120. Maybe you guys didn't get the interceptor package but just got the graphics instead?

Nah...read the michigan police reports, crown vics are governed at 128 and its hard for them to do that anyways because the police package on a unmarked car adds around 800lbs, let alone one the k2 package for the marked cars, so if he was really running 142 he could have gotten away...but how long will that 14yr old civic hold that speed? Impala's are even slower than that, they wern't designed to be patrol cars impala's are traffic enforcement and duty cars.

Another one bites the dust:

http://www.katu.com/stories/76626.html

Speed demon clocked at 123 mph by WSP trooper

"April 20, 2005

- Vancouver, Wash. - A Tigard man ended up with a reckless driving citation after he got pulled over for driving well over the speed limit.
It all started just after 5:00 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate-5 northbound at the Interstate-205 junction in Clark County.

A Washington State trooper was heading home when a 1995 Toyota Camry screamed by him.

The trooper clocked the car at 123 mph and gave chase, catching up to the vehicle near the exit to 179th Street.

The driver of the vehicle, 45-year-old John Duncan of Tigard, was cited for reckless driving.

In a related story out of Oregon, 19-year-old Ryan Champ was pulled over last month for driving 142 mph on I-205 near Otty Road."
