I hope someone can help me out on this problem. I took my 2000 Celica GT to Bob Smith Toyota in La Crescenta for a $79.95 4 wheel alignment, on a Friday afternoon, of all days. When I gave my car to the service guy, I told him that I had the Hotchkis camber plates in the front and the rear camber links in the back and gave him the actual instructions from Hotchkis on how to adjust them if necessary. So, I get a call from one of the service managers that because the car has been lowered with 1.6 Intrax springs, they cant align the camber and toe on the rear. I told them that I had left the Hotchkis instructions in the car which shows how to adjust the camber, but he still says that the cars rear end cannot be adjusted and can only be adjusted if the car was brought back to its original height. The specific range of the rear camber is suppose to be between -1.9 and -0.4 degrees and my car is at -2.5 degrees and the specific toe is suppose to be at 0.05 and 0.25 degrees and my car is at 0.32 degrees.
One of the reasons I bought the Hotchkis rear camber links is so the rear end can be adjusted since the car was being lowered 1.6 What can I do? Im thinking its Friday late afternoon and the service guys just want to get home early and didnt even want to deal with adjusting the Hotchkis camber links. One of the service managers did mention that I should take my car to a tuner shop which specializes in lowered compact sports cars. I know a lot of you have lowered your Celicas and was wondering where you guys get your wheel alignments, specifically in the Los Angeles area. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
