I have a 2001 gts celi and i was looking at the quickshifter and trd but it says "only for car without factory update" i bought mine from a dealer, so i assume it would have any updates available installed on it. I want one, need advice on how to know if i have factory update, if i do, what other quickshifters recommended?

I order a B&M the other day. Should have it by Tuesday. I'll let you know then.

If you like the really short sporty look then TWM is they way to go (60% shorter). If you like the smooth shifts then TRD and B&M are great shifters (40% shorter).

was reading reviews and sounds like people who get TWM are more excited than those with BM. ...man tough decision.

The factory update was when in 2002 they made the shift gates wider in an effort to prevent blown engines from misshifting. Your shifter should fit because your car is a 2001. BTW, I have the TRD quickshifter and I LOVE it. One of the best mods I've done.

TRD is only true quick shifter, the others just are shorter rods, not an entire housing. I would recommend TRD

BTW, I have the TRD quickshifter and I LOVE it. One of the best mods I've done. Even if they dont match with the factory updates, its just shifter linkage that you would replace, and its not a "necessary" modification. changing the linkage only makes it "feel" a little different. I used to work at a Toyota Dealership, and looked into this after having my tranny replaced (the guy that owned my car before me didnt know how to drive a 6-speed). I have the TRD Short-shifter, and there is no way I will ever own a manual transmission car without this mod. I love it!!! Excellent feel!!!

The more i look into TRD products the more i seem to like them, suddle yet still a noticable difference. The only bad thing is, i cant seem to find anything they sell for cheap, i look on e-bay a lot and it always comes up with maybe 2 or 3 actually perfomance parts and the rest are just b/s, oil caps and stickers. Can anyone help me find a nice site to search for TRD with out going straight to the dealer, where i know i would over pay for it, thanks

2002+ has wider shift gates and the TRD SS doesn't work with it. Also if you have had your tranny replaced due to someone misshifting or whatever they probably installed with the wider shift gates.
