the top piece that look like an upside down "U"..on one end there's a hole, see thru hole in the middle of it is a hollow round metal type tube..u need to remove that piece..then on the opposite end on the side you need to pry out the clip..on the right side, pry it out, use a flat head screw driver and pry that bitch out..then you can take the upside down "U"..after that ur shifter will come out..i had to figure that one out, because the b&m instruction on the Install page doesn't said that...

Instructions come with the shifter that you bought. I bought B&M and it had instructions for MR2 and Celica.

i read the b&m install guide here and other places. received my b&m with excellent instructions and had absolutely no problem with the install. hands on doing it with the actual parts in front of you really helps visualize the removal/install concepts. good luck.

I figured it out . I ended up taking the whole plate out and working on a table with it. Yeah that clip on the left side is a pain. That's what took the longest. However I don't think this will be a problem? BUT How well do you have to re-grease the new shifter. It's kind of stiff and I was wondering if I didn't grease it enough. I AM NOT TAKIN IT APART AGAIN EITHER!! I've heard it's pretty stiff for a lot of memebers. Is this how it's suppose to be?

Yeah, I'm really glad that it does. I just installed mine yesterday. That push screw that you need to pry off was a f***in bitch to get off. I almost gave up. The shifts feel way more natural now, too.
