Celica Forums General Discussion Engine and Performance wierd noise

Ever since i got my 2000 gts there has been a wierd noise coming from the engine
while decelerating. Ill try to explain it. It makes a sort of buzzing, shhhhh noise everytime i let off the gas at about 3000 and up. It is starting to piss me off. Is this normal or could it be rod knock. Please help

its kinda like somethings grinding or something. its wierd

i dunno we kno the service manager there and i got a new tranny under warranty and i guess they changed it because the sound is completely gone i never mentioned it to them though. So i dunno how much one would actually cost.

i have 63000 miles on her now

i got it used at 60k, so im not sure what kind of stress she was under
from the previous owner.

should i take it to the dealer to check it out?

yea tell em about the sound and ask them to check if its the heatshield. yea when you let off the gas its a grinding rattling sound they when you step back on the gas it goes away it annoyed the crap outta me. Im like 99% sure its the heatshield so get it checked out. If you go lemme kno if that was wut it is and how it works out bro iight.

it's either your heat sheild or your throw out bearings. check your heat sheild where the two bolts attach and see if its cracked around it. the dealership told me to get somebody to weld it or put some heating and cooling tape over it and it would stop. if its your throw out bearings then you may be still under warranty. i had mine replaced at 55k miles. if it gets really bad right on 3k rpm's then its probably the heat shield though. good luck with whatever it is.
