Hey. I got a quote from a shop near me about the C2 turbo install (they looked at the install quide). They told me that install would take 16-24 hours at $70/hour. Tuning rates are $100/hour. So, all said and done, they want $1500 to $2250. That doesn't include gauge install, new clutch install, and custom exhaust (fabrication work is $35/hour). Should I keep looking for a new shop? Or is this about right? Or will it end up being cheaper and quicker?

The most hardest thing is probably taking out ur oil pan and drill a hole to make the oil return line.

I think the hardest part would be installing the ecu piggy back upgrade and the wiring. was looking for 2000+ emanage wiring guides.. does the c2 install guide have a wiring diagram?

Anything under 1k$ is reasonable over that it is expensive. It is not a hard job but there are some things that may a proffesional (not a shop just an expert!!) shoul do. The most difficult part is to place the new header. the wireing is easy the oil pan is harder. so keep searching a shop

Yeah, I'll have to keep looking, I guess. I don't have the tools nor experience to do it myself. I wouldn't be able to tap the oil pan and such (hell, I haven't even changed my own oil yet, but that's because my first oil change was part of the 15,000 mile service, so I just let them do it). I'd love to do it myself, but I think I'd feel more confident if I let someone else do it. Hell, it took me like 2 hours to install my short shifter, but that's because I spent a lot of time looking for a ratchet extender, then couldn't find one long enough and had to remove two bolts by hand.

save the money. If you say you dont have tools, all those thousands of dollars you spend on paying a larry to install your turbo, you can buy your own tools and thensome. If you really dont want to tap the oil pan, you can pay someone else to do it rather then yourself.

^^^ Werd. It is not the easiest mod to do. I mean you have to tap and weld a bung on the oil pan plus cut and weld your exhaust as you have to shorten it. Plus installing the e-manage is not easy for some people that are not to knowledable in electronics. Average prices that i have seen is $800 - $1000 for install only. Dyno tunning $80 - $140 time really depends on how good the shop is. I would say atleast 3 hours

Yes i have not installed one before, and never did say i installed one before, but i've been saving for a turbo and asking questions about it, and Gas said it is doable to do it yourself

install really isnt that hard. if you can follow directions and have the tools and a little bit of knowhow, you can do it. the only thing i couldnt do was weld, so i took the oil pan and dp to get the bungs welded on. also got a shitty crush bent 3" exhaust for $125. header is the biggest pain. i can pretty much take mine in and out with one arm and my eyes shut now. and if you have any questions, gas or any of the other people that installed it themselves would surely help you out.

MAke sure you can use a bridge for about 5 days if you wanna do it yourself.. I've seen Gas install my turbo-kit in 2 days (with a colleague) and you really need a lift and good tools!

It took me 2 full days to install my kit. I had only done basic installations before like installing a CAI so I had a friend who was a bit more experienced helped me out. He also had lots of tools. At the time it was a pain in the ass but after i was done it felt very good to do the work myllef. PLus I save tons of money
I got the oil pan and flexpipe done at a shop.
Hardest part for me was the header. Just take your time. Have a friend help you and make sure everything is very tight!

I don't trust any of my friends to help me. In fact, I really don't know anybody that could help me that would even remotely know what they are doing. I'm gonna keep looking for a shop. According to my parents, installing it myself is out of the question.

I have an 03 GT, and am considering a turbo. I know I can do it myself or at least am dumb enough to try it myself. I just don't know what turbo would be best for my car. I would like to buy brand name like Garrett, but if any one knows of a good turbo for the 1zz please let me know.
PS: Looking forward to seeing all the Celicas at Modified Madness at Penn State in May. Yeah!!!

Stage is far more difficult and longer thatn stage 1! You are talking about change piston and rods new injector etc. that's why it cost more!

Stage 2 is a LOT of work. Engine needs to be taken out, bored, new pistons. Engine needs to be put back than.. Than install the kit and tune it..
I know Bing's Stage 2 install took 5 days..
I talked to Steve and he's a cool guy, ask for a specification. It does sound a bit on the high side, but I am sure it is reasonable..

Yes i have not installed one before, and never did say i installed one before, but i've been saving for a turbo and asking questions about it, and Gas said it is doable to do it yourself It isn't a "True bolt on" though. You do have to weld a couple of things. Without a welder you will have to take the oil pan to someone and the exhaust somewhere else...
