yO!
I was at my buddys house, and he has a tig welder (he makes turbo manifolds, we are making mine tomarrow!!!!!!) but anyway, i said hey, lets make a short shiter, so i tore out my center console quick like and we took the shifter rod off. We used the bandsaw and chopped off 1.5" of the shifter, right above the ball. Tig welded it back together, and badda bing, badda boom!
A short Shifter! I cant beleive what i was missing, shifts are quick, and ya know exactly what gear your in, and its so easy to go gear to gear!
some pics!

Did you just cut off from the ball up? if so, all you got was show and feel. The shifts are the same, it just feels harder. Looks good thought, can't go wrong with tig welds

It definitly goes into gears quicker its seems, i dont have to move the yardstick as far. it does feel a little stiffer. looks better though too

lol yea a guy did this with his B&M a while back. so needless to say his is really friggn short What doing this does, it makes ur arm go less distance but it makes it harder to shift. becasue actual short shifters change the distance on the bottom as well to even it out a bit. this does make ur shifts shorter obviously, but its till a good idea to get a real ss Kick ass buddy for an awsome mod

cutting the rod does not shorten the throw sorry to say. you just have a shorter rod

oh well...still cooler then stock. we tried to make the turbo manifold today...we were taking some stuff apart and i decided to change the lift bolts, well come to find out, my front one is broken off. so i had to go into toyota and i ordered 6 just in case i need to change them. and they are going to look at it and see if they can get that broken peice out. we were also dickin around with the air intake, we kinda ridged up something just to test which hoses we needed to hook up and we kinda made our own air intake, it had way more toque and power, but since we didn't really spend much time in making it, it always died when it was ideling. the extra power was kinda fun though. has anyone here taken out their own broken lift bolts, what was your trick?
