Celica Forums General Discussion Engine and Performance hotchkis spring problem...

for the past 2days i keep on hearing like a snapping noise or metal to metal contact noice from my front left suspension everytime i hit a bump i hear it, when just driving no noise.
today i inspected my spring + shocks & all the bolts. everything is fine. one thing i noticed is the hotchkis spring. it looks like 2 of the coils is hitting each other. i can see indentation of the coil color is coming off and seeing rust spots from where it's hitting each other.. the part of the coil that is hitting each other is directly on top & bottom of each other.

any hotchkis owners out there with this problem or any solutions?

When I was researching possible parts suspension set ups, Hotchkis was my first choice. I heard many stories of this problem. Is it the second and third coils from the top? It seems that most aftermarker springs come with rubber guards to protect from coil-coil contact. You'll have to put together something to do the same job. Best I can offer.
